My dad said food was good and therapy was good. but when he would hit the call light the nurses aides would take a long time and were rude and disrespectful. he was there for a fall at home. The therapy was okay, but I witnssd a ocupation therapist leave him on a bike for over 30 mins while she left him alone. why?

I think Hickory Ridge is a great, growing facility. Yes, it does need some work but my 73 year old grandmother is glad she is there because the nurses treat her very well. So It may have some bad qualities but I think it is amazing

Response: I have no respect for Hickory Ridge ,I got a phone call fall of 2012 from my sister, who was my parents health P.O.A. at the time and she tells me she is investigating my 85 year old Father being slapped and punched by a nurse while in your care! The home tried to cover it saying the nurse thought my Father was going to hit her-abuse is abuse is abuse-from a nurse who had violent tendency's herself and no respect for the elderly-I understand my Mother was ill treated also while there and the only relief given were excuses! unforgiveable..

Response: Whatever came of this, possibly considering my parents stay. Was that nurse fired?

This is a very good care facility. We had a family member stay there for 2 months. The nursing and physical therapy departments are wonderful! The food could improve greatly..... And they need to hire more certified nursing assistants. There are not enough nursing assistants to go around especially in the evening. Overall it was a great facility

Very nice looking & clean, wonderful public spaces. But response to patient calls is extremely slow. My great-aunt is now 98 & no longer ambulatory, but she has no dementia and gets so upset by the response time when she needs something.

Very nice looking place for visitors. The community room is hospitable and there is occasional entertainment. But the quality of care is sub-par. Physical therapy progress for my 84yr old mother was slow and they told her she should have told the weekend staff to put her on a CPROM machine. That is not her responsibility. She is not suppose to ambulate without assistance and they are very slow to respond to the call light and when she was left in the bathroom she was told by staff that they were taking care of another patient , or then that they simply forgot to come back? Poor, Poor, Poor quality of care. The slow response to the call light is not an isolated incident. Mom was there for two and a half weeks. No teamwork.... No community referal from me. I plan to lodge a formal complaint tomorrow.

Response: I don't believe hey should get 5 star on all things. My father was there and sent home in full CHF and had to be admitted to the hospital within 5 hrs of discharge from Hickory Ridge. More than half the staff does not wear name tags, so WHO ARE THEY? they do not offer residents to go to the bathroom every 2 hours as they should, they are slow to respond to call lights, a resident was left in there room at lunch time, no one came to take them to the dining room, when the family member took them to the dining room, half the other people were done eating. WOULD THEY HAVE CAME TO GET THIS PERSON OR WOULD THEY MISED DINNER? They therapy is slow to work with residents, is that so they can keep them there longer? Staff talk with each other rather than residents at meal time, not paying attention to residents eating from someone else's tray or spilling drinks on the floor. They don't deserve 5 stars!
