I know this place does not have the best looks but the care far outweighs the looks of the place, the staff is caring and friendly they greet you with a smile and always have a hello when they see you. My expectations were high and they exceeded what I was looking for in terms of care.

I worked there for years right up till a foreign person took over and fired most of the upper management, we had a wonderful team until then. It was a nice place to we work. But then they were replaced by his own people and the place has gone down ever since. Oakwood skilled rehab and rehabilitation was a good place. A shame it's gone now.

Important to note that this facility has recently detriorated and has gone from 3 stars to 2 stars.

Response: It is noticed that there is an "Overall Rating" of 2 stars and yet all other areas, Helpfulness, Quality of care and Cleanliness are noted to be "Not Rated". How can an accurate portrayal of anything be determined without all the facts? I can attest to a personal commitment from the staff to the residents and the community. The glamour of new and improved visually is never an accurate portrayal of quality care found within. Do not judge a book by it's cover. Please take the time to evaluate this facility as a whole and give credit where credit is due. Thank you.

Response: I think you need to revisit this place and do a new review of it>

I was sorry I put my father there. The food was always cold by the time it was delivered as employees delivering the food did not see the urgency of delivering hot food. I witnessed the adminstrator lambasting an employee on one day and giving a directive to another employee in a very condescending manner on another day. I got the impression that she has a "high" opinion of herself and flounces around in immodest and unprofessional clothing. She looks more like a hooker than a nursing home professional.
The nurses stand around as much as they can and don't seem to be concerned about monitoring patients. I was glad when I removed my father from there into a place where the staff is more professional and the building appears to be up to date.

Response: I agree I worked there and busted my @#$% we worked short staffed but not allowed to say so they pick on the people who work there who stand up for themselves they hide and cover up things from the state and no thank yous are ever handed out to the workers I worked with some great people who gave all they had every shift including not taking lunches or breaks and unreliable equipment given constant tasks that should be completed by a nurse asked to do wound care on residents when it is a nurses job they have a wound care nurse that only actualy takes care of and looks at the wounds progress about once a week. too many people in management and they all make up their own rules they change the policies all the time then write up employees for not knowing any better even though they were never notified glad I got out of there the administrator thinks all nurse aides are stupid and has been over heard saying she dosent care about them management treated thereself to a fancy dinner and gifts for Christmas and the employees working didn't even get a card no appreciation at all just demands and the only time they are nice to you is when state is in and its timed to pretend like they care I will say a lot of the aides and nurses have love for the residents and put more than a 100% effort in there day

The resource infrastucture model of this facility is based on a goal of making money for one person. Decisions are weighted to squeak by and reach state requirements in face of poor equipment, physical plant, and resources with as little as possible monies thrown at these areas. Quality of care and employee peace of mind and body suffer.

06/12/2012  -  An OurParents User Writes:

Very discordant place. There is no thankfulness or encouragement, only a driven narcissism by the administrator who competes in every aspect to maintain spotlight on herself. The staff are expected to work without the proper equipment, help, and under unreasonable conditions.

Response: I absolutely agree, the administrator berates employees in front staff members and visitors. If she acts like this when visitors are around I have to wonder how she acts when no one is around. I witnessed a resident be cussed at by a restorative aid and the administrator did nothing.

Nurses are pill pushers. They don't know or care what the patient is getting as far as meds. The food served may be outdated. (found an expired item on my fathers tray) Social worker in totally uninformed of proper procedures. They want the money and the care of the patient does not matter. The Doctors ignore family member requests and are rude. As a mater of fact, all in the facility are rude and ignore patients and family. My father lost almost 40 pounds in 2 months (165 to 128) and all we got were excuses. If you don't want your loved one around, put them here and they will be gone in no time. If you really love your family member, stay clear of this place.

Horrible, horrible place. Staff is unattentive. Administrators do not answer their phones or return calls.
Patients seem to be catatonic due to overmedication. I think they do this to keep their patients quite and controllable. Less work to do that way.
Patients do not have phones, and receptionist doesn't answer her's either. You can call 10 times and 9 times no one will answer.

Response: I wish I had read your review before putting my father there.
I agree, it should be shut down. I've filed a formal complaint against them, but was told that all they could really do was fine them. Hope it's a hefty one!

Response: I called the center on the weekend and no one answers. I do not feel safe leaving my family member there and I will be removing her. Food was good, that was the only perk.

My mother was there for rehab on a broken ankle. The rehab department is excellent. A number of the nurses and aides were very good, unfortunately, not all of them shared the same work ethic. My mom could not get up and around when she first got there, and would be left sitting in her own urine for long periods of time, despite pressing the call button before she had to use the restroom. The food was horrible. Many times, my mom and other patients had to check the menu to find out what they had been served. The food would either be overcooked or raw... no middle ground.
She developed a severe infection, and ended up being taken to the hospital, via ambulance, severely dehydrated and nearly overdosed on blood thinners.

Response: You must be a staff member. this place stinks and I would not send my most hated enemy there except as torture!

02/22/2010  -  An OurParents User Writes:

Staff was wonderful, caring, and involved, Therapy and staff was good to my mom could tell all staff ultimately loved her, only slight difficulty with adjustment of mom would refer another.

Response: The food is good, old fashioned, home cooked.
