Response: I am currently a student practicing in the rehab department at Applewood. Your review is far off from what the facility is really like. I don't even work there and so I have no reason to be biased. Across the hall from the dining room, there are plaques and awards of excellence from the state of Michigan and Medicare. This facility is known to be one of the best in lower eastern Michigan. I was recently doing my fieldwork from a hospital not too far from there and when patients were deciding their skilled nursing facilities to go to, Applewood was the most sought after facility along with Belle Fountain. On many websites, this facility scored in the upper 80's and lowers 90's and this is according to Medicare, federal, and state inspections. Currently they are finishing up construction and have an even bigger gym and dining hall, and are currently adding about 50 or more beds, half of which are already finished and starting to fill up. Applewood is really great, almost everyone who come there end up enjoying it and it has a really great rep by word of mouth.

Response: Get your facts straight!!!!

Very unprofessional in every way. Very dirty. Kept at outrageous temps in the summer. Employees are treated like slaves. Most staff members do not take care for the residents seriously. I would never ever put a loved one here!!

Response: Looks like not much has changed in 5 years. My mother was new there and it was not what I was told it was going to be like at all. The managers were very pleasant when I took the tour and did all the paperwork to have her admitted after that it was as if the two in charge; a man and a woman team, acted very unapproachable and as if I was bothering them if I had any questions or concerns once my mother was there. Do your research, this place is very deceiving by its looks. Ask to get a tour of the units and inside rooms around bed time, you will be very disappointed to see how short staffed they are and have absolute NO time to even tell me how my mother was doing that day. It's not the staffs fault they are very short staffed with so many residents. I would look elsewhere.

My mom was at Applewood for 4 years. The staff is very caring. I wouldn't have placed my mom any where else.
