I had never heard of Brooking Park until an emergency placement was needed...the staff, location and care met all our expectations as family members.

During my stay at Brooking Park I was very unhappy with lack of pain control and with extremely slow responsiveness by staff when assistance was requested. There were some exceptionally good and caring people among the staff, but teamwork and communication between shifts was often negative or lacking. The extremely poor pain control and frequent unresponsiveness by staff during my stay often overwhelmed any other judgements I could make about the facility.
The therapy staff for PT, OT and Cognitive Therapies was excellent and was the most positive aspect of my stay. I also appreciated the food and accommodation to special dietary needs and I liked my room.

My father, who has Alzeihmer's, was given too much medicine while at Brooking Park. He went into delirium and they sent him to the hospital claiming he was violent. The hospital put him in a padded cell.
And this they call "quality care"? Thanks a heap...

My mother was a resident of Brooking Park for two (2) years. The first year her care was good to adequate. By the second year, 2009-2010, the overall care at Brooking Park had deteriorated. By the time we moved her to another facility, there were only two (2) aides to care for 18 patients on her wing. Routinely, there was no RN on duty at the desk. All the care was provided by CNAs, who, although they tried hard to provide good care, were inadequate. In two years, I never saw the RN in charge of the extended care patients, on the floor. Although she was readily available, her desk was not even on the floor, but was outside in a different hall. She could not keep a close eye on the daily workings of the staff, and it showed. The activities people were excellent and provided wonderful care. The food was awful for most of two years. I wish we had moved my mother sooner, but we had hope that things would improve at Brooking Park. Never happened. I would never recommend the place.
