I have a family member currently living in the Assisted Living side of The Villas. The individual apartments have a serious temperature control problem (rooms stay too hot in summer, and too cold in winter). The building's maintenance department doesn't seem able to fix the recurring problem. The dining hall has also gone downhill in the past couple of years...many of the residents do NOT enjoy their meals. The residents seem very happy with the nursing/caregiving staff. Bathtubs do not get cleaned regularly.

My mother was at The Villas for several years up until she passed, we were very happy with her care and the facility staff, we only had 1 episode of a staff member being rude and that was handled immediately by the supervising nurse. They were very kind to the family as we stayed at our mothers bedside until her passing. It has a very welcoming family feel, because it is small you get to know everyone and the staff not only have the time to spend with the people that live there but also with the family members that come in to visit. I have always recommended this facility to family and friends. I never say any mistreatment of residents, and there was always some kind of activity going on. I read the review that was posted here and how it compared this home to others in the area and in the paragraph where it talked about people spending to much time in bed or losing control of their bowels, i nver seen that at this home, they are very active in trying to keep the people up and going - not quite sure where the previous poster got their information.

The Villas is located in the quiet town of DeSoto, Missouri, home of Jay Nixon. We provide a continuum of care with our Residential Care Center and the Skilled Nursing Facility. We also provide services to meet the needs of short or long term rehab. If your goal is to return home, our nursing and therapy staff will do everything possible to help you reach this goal. Our therapy department will also do home visits prior to discharge to ensure safe and easy transition back. If you will be making The Villas your home after rehab, we will help you reach your highest level of function and help you decide which level of care you would be most successful at maintaining. Our monthly rate is all inclusive: this includes weekly trips to the beauty/barber shop for shampoos, hair coloring, perms, shampoos and set, and haircuts, all meals and snacks, cable for your television, housekeeping and laundry services, 24 hour nursing care etc. All of our menus are set up with our resident's preferences took into account. They are reviewed by a board certified dietician. Residents are given daily menus so that they can choose from what is being served for the day and note any special orders that they may have. We also offer a salad bar in the Residential Care Facility. Each room in both levels has a sliding glass door that leads to a patio. All sliding glass doors are alarmed and does alert nursing staff that the door has been opened. We have 2 enclosed court yards for relaxation as well as entertaining. We have a variety of entertainers that come to the facility for day, evening and week-end entertainment. Shopping trips are done weekly (we can shop for you if you request or you may ride along and shop). Senior aerobics are done each morning in RCF. A structured exercise program is done in the Nursing Facility as well. We provide a warm and inviting home to those in need, we will assist in finding financial funds to help with the stay. The Villas is a "have to see home" our single most heard comment when we are giving tours of the facility, is "I can't believe this is a nursing home, it is so beautiful, quiet, and there is no smell." As far as the RCF we hear a lot that it is like a lodge or resort. We look forward to welcoming you into our home.
