We had the worst experience with my mother here. Several 'incidents' happened but the worst is she fell one night. They called us and told us that she was fine, just shaken a bit. She was in a bunch of pain, couldn't sleep at all that night, the staff gave her some aspirin and told her she was fine. 24 hrs later they sent her to the ER and found out her foot was broken. The PT staff was very professional and nice but every other aspect of Hillcrest was terrible!! Including the home health after she was discharged. Highly NOT recommended!!!

Response: We have our mother in rehab now. We are currently looking for a new place. The nursing staff shows no concern or care for the patients here.
Their lack of care shows through in all shifts.
Please, if you are looking for a place for your love ones do not commit them here.

My husband has been a skilled nursing/rehab patient twice at Hillcrest. In 2010 care and rehab was exceptional and recovery was fantastic. 2nd visit in 2013, administration was absent - no updates, unanswered phone calls, not even a formal discharge. Less than 24 hrs from leaving he was admitted to the hospital for severe infection from an un determined source. 4 days in hospital with heavy dose of antibiotics and breathing treatments 4xs a day. He left in worse health than when he entered!

The expeirance that my family has witnessed with this Facility has been anything but professional. During one particular night... My mother rang for assistance to use the restroom. My mother waited almost an hour for help to come but no one did. My mother finally tried to take herself to the restroom... (verses wetting the bed). Due to my mother's room being completely dark..she fell just inside the bathroom door. My mother layed on the bathroom floor holloring for help that still didn't come for awhile. When the staff finally found her..they called me to say that she had merely fallen out of bed but that she was alright.
When I arrived at the facility... I found that to be furtherist from the truth. I was alarmed when I saw that my mother had a cut on the side of her forehead, a big bump on the back of her head ...and both her arm & leg had been skinned up quite abit.
Since this had not been the first incident to take place in this Facility during my mother's stay there...I now was alarmed and I questioned the staff. After having my mother repeat her story to me three time about this incident... and it did not match the explanations given by the staff...It was very clear to see that the facility was covering up imformation of negligents. (Most of my mother's incidents have taken place during the hours of the night staffing...but not all).
I asked if a Report had been made out for this incident or if my mother's doctor had even been called. The answer was no to all questions.
After this questioning... (Plus a request to have a light on at all times in my mother's room) ....I began to notice a turn in the staffs behavior towards me (in the form of rudeness & snickering).
The evening after this incident...the staff took my mother to the dinning room for dinner but gave her only a dish of Watermellon for dinner...And it was after her dinner that my mother called me to ask what she did wrong...(she asked if the staff was mad at her because she fell).
Upon arriving at the facility that next morning... Again I questioned the staff as to whether this was an over-sight or what happened. Again I was met with no clear answers...and they promised that she would be fed that day.
One day later...I received a call from the Office of this facility... saying that they would be releasing my mother soon. Again I questioned the Office actions... since my mother had only been there seven days after a major surgery...(plus now there was a bad rash taking place around the site of her surgery)!
It was at this point that I knew that I needed to get my mother out of this Facility & placed somewhere else regardless!
The whole experiance at this Facility has been very unprofessional! The staff appears to not have the heart or mind-set for this occupation...And as for rude or lazy...That's the least of the problems going on in this facility!!
I could never recommend this Facility to anyone!!

Response: My mother did have two stays in this Facility (before & after surgery). Her first stay was on one end of this facility and I do have to say that the staff on that end were exceptional in their care-giving skills and a credit to the Facility. But it was after my mother's surgery that she was returned and placed on the opposite end of this building to heal. It is beyond reasoning... that the same Facility (but opposite ends) could be so different from one another. It's also a shame that the whole Facility will pay the price of a bad rap... due to one side being so unprofessional & careless. Still I can not give this Facility a recommendation to anyone! (I don't want to see this kind of care given to other people's mothers, fathers or family members!!

RUDE and inconsiderate staff. Not all of them. But unfortunately a the several bad apples spoil the whole lot. They treat the elderly like children and do not respect their wishes. There are a few that stand out above the crowd but for the most part this place is hiring people that do not care for other people.

Do not go here. They do not care about the patients at all. The let them sit wet all day, they do not bathe them, brush their teeth. They do not change their clothes. If you have someone in there get them out and have a nurse come to your home. You will get better care and you won't have to worry about your loved one in this place. I feel sorry for anyone who has been sent here. Even if you are someone that visits daily they still don't care if the patient is looked after. I can imagine if you are someone who never gets visitors what happens to these people. Such a sad way to end your life. Shame on everyone who works there.
