Has anyone ever contacted a city, county, state representative or advocacy group or even metro regarding what is going on there????
I am a nurse and have 14 such facilities, not for long. It made me sick. My goal was to help the elderly's, all I observed was the most atrocious neglect I have ever seen in my life. I would expect better treatment in Kolkata India

my father is currently at the torrey pines. I have been beside myself on how he has been treated there. He has gotten worse not better and was sent there because of insurance issues, as the only option. I am writing this review hoping it will save someone from sending there loved ones to this horid pace. It smells like a dirty dog cenal, the dog wouldnt eat it, i even tried it. My dad presses the button for help and it takes 30 min to an hour to get water/assistance to bathroom/help. The staff is the worst people i have ever come across they tell me my dads a lier about the things going on there. A nurse droped another patient the other day and broke her leg and nothing is being done about it. the more and more i go and meet the other patients when i go visit my dad the more i find how bad it really is!!! plEASE dp not take your loved ones there!!!! run run run !

I couldn't agree more with many of the reviews & specifically relate to that of a staff member's from 5/2013. That place should be shut down! I would rather die than be "cared" for by those in that facility. The therapy dept is the only decent service in that place. The only patients that should go there are those that are mostly independent, not afraid to speak up for themselves, only there for short term therapy & have solid outside supports to go in & check on them.

As a human, it was the most disgusting time in my life. I have told my son to NEVER let 911 take me back to the hospital that transferred me to the only place I have ever checked myself out of

My husband is currently residing at the Torrey Pines. I have been dissatisfied with the care and the attitude of the staff there. My husband seems that since he has gone there his condition of Progressive MS has deteriorated. I have many problems understanding him when he speaks in the last month or so, He has claimed that if he does not eat his meal there is nothing for him to eat as an alternative. With his condition, he is supposed to eat a very tailored nutritional menu. He has not seen a neurologist there at all. I was told by a nurse last evening that when I call, i seem to have anxiety, well of course I do, My husband is going to bed without eating and is getting weak in his physical condition. I cannot speak correctly to him, his phone has not been working correctly. i told the nurse to do her job and check on him. They are getting paid very high fees for the services billed to insurance. i have made the complaint to medicare as well. I hace been very upset in the pst when he did not have his call button within reach, I have stayed on the phone for over forty five minutes when he did have it and attempted to use it. it was never answered. I have been on the phone for approximately 12 hours off and on one day, because his diaper was not changed. There are many patients ll over this country who are suffering due to their disabilities and injuries who are not receiving dignity and caring care. It is a disgrace. these people are paid to care for human beings and are being ignored when they want to use their patient rights. They ask and the care giver walks away. This is terrible for the moral and mental wellness for the patient. i have called Quality control to investigate this facility immediately. I am currently search for a more caring place for my husband, I feel that there should be the least amount of stress on the patient and family during the times of immediate care, Mental wellness is just as imprtant a physical wellness in the healing process.

I just walked off the job today as a former nursing staff member. I have only worked here for about a month and I have witnessed so much abuse by staff I am disgusted. It makes me physically ill to think of the patients that I cared for who are still there without me to look after them. I had two days off and in those two days one of my patients developed an infection, a rash, dehydration, and a bed sore. Please do not allow your loved ones to go here. They will leave worse off!!! I've witnessed Dr.'s yelling at elderly patients, nurses tying patients to wheelchairs, and dosing patients to keep them in bed. Please this place needs to be closed down and people need to be held accountable!!!

My Aunt has had the unfortunate luck of her insurance placing her in the facility several times. Every time she is there the staff is rude and treats her like she is scum. This last time she developed several different infections including bed sores and mercer. The patient advocate assigned to her is one of the most uncaring people we have had to deal with. He does nothing to help. It is a horrible facility.

I was a patient at Torry Pines Care Center and "care" was the last thing I received, except for a couple of very kind employees, especially the physical therapist they employ. The first night I was there I was physically assualted by two nures or nurse's aides. I screamed for help, but no one came to assist me. When the assualt was over, I begged for some water and was told "you don't get any water, the dining room is closed. I was only 3 days post operative from a total hip replacement and was tossed around the bed like a rag doll. I reported the incident to the administrator and I have to say that I personally never saw those to women again. I don't know if they were fired or simply transferred to another wing of the hospital. I then placed two hysterical phone calls, one to my daughter in California and one to my sister in Las Vegas. My daughter called the front desk of the hospital and demanded that I be delivered some water and after that phone call and my reporting the incident to those in charge, I was treated better and did receive water. I must also say that the food was so horrible, I would have rather had dog food. They also gave me several unnecessary tests. Before my operation, I had a chest xray, but during my stay at Torry Pines they gave me another one. I suppose to overbill Medicare. Please, don't send a loved one of yours to this facility.

This place is horrible. Tell you they will do one thing, then don't do it. Most of the staff have no common sense when it comes to taking care of someone. They don't do their jobs and don't care! Do not place your loved ones here!

My aunt spent approximately 1 month in this facility for rehab. My opinion is that her care was mismanaged. She developed several adjunct problems, including C diff. On the days which I visited, she was not dressed, and was lying in bed, even though she was there to get stronger. The staff did not seem attentive, and was very hard to undrstand, as there wer language problems.
