My family chose to place my grandmother at Burlington Woods because of the on-site dialysis. Initially, she was going to stay for rehab, but her health has declined and she will be calling Burlington Woods home. This was a hard decision for my family to make, but we are confident in the care she has been provided. Her therapists and nurses have shown her kindness and great care. Her social worker has helped bring my family together to understand her medical condition. Sometimes, you can't judge a book by its cover…or a nursing home by its rating. I'm glad we didn't.

Son underwent knee replacement and due to his weight, due to the fact he could not get around, he was sent to Burlington Woods 4 days following surgery for physical therapy. He had minor pain but it was in control and he was in great spirits. Later that night after midnight he called and told us he had not received " ANY " medication. This is now approximately 12 hours since his last medications. He tried talking with the staff only to be told he had been given pain meds and all other medications he had been receiving at the hospital earlier that evening and that they could not go by what he was telling them. Approximately 17 hours after arriving there he was given something for pain but the pain level was totally too high and control had been lost. By this time they had started also to issue any other medications he had been receiving. He is also diabetic and none of that medicine had been given to him either. He wants out of there but we have spoken with him and convinced him to hold on and see about things getting better. Better arraingements need to be made for new incoming patients and administering their medications. And of all places honesty and trust must come first. That has been broken !!
