My mother-in-law has been at Bristol Glen for several years, varying from independent care to assisted living to nursing home and has had excellent care. The staff is very responsive and caring ... to everyone. I see them greeting and interacting with the residents in the hallway and in the dining areas. The onsite PT staff works with each patient patiently and earnestly, as witnessed during her stroke recovery since 2011 when she had to learn to walk again. The nursing home's rooms are double occupancy but are designed to provide as much privacy as possible under the circumstances. I was in the main lobby once, when a resident in the little sandwich shop felt faint and fell, and the kitchen staff immediately came to his aide and a staff member nearby initiated an emergency response protocol, and you should have seen the nurses and aides come flying down the hallway. Everyone had a roll in this protocol, including who pulled the response kit for the nurses and called the emergency squad, and asked people to clear the hallway. All this gave me great comfort in knowing that she'd be well-cared for, and encouraged to recover. She still lives a very fulfilled and productive life at BG, attending the activities that she wants, and skipping those that she cannot fit in. If she has had any issues with her care (which are very rare), either she or one of her family will speak up and the issues are addressed very quickly. Some staff members are more responsive than others, but I have not met any that acted in front of me like it's just a paycheck. I mean, even the kitchen staff reminds some of the forgetful residents what their favorite food is, or how they like their coffee, once they get to know them. I've visited a # of facilities over the past 20 years to see friends, and this is one of the best.

When one has to do the job of finding placement for a loved one it has to be the most emotional time of your life. I visited this facility and was met with people who made me feel as though I was not worthy of placing my loved one in his home. I had visited other Nursing homes in the area on the same day and felt much compassion from many. The compassion level here was like I just stepped into the movie "The Stepford Wives". It was a feeling of "robotic" compassion and made me feel as though I was taking up their (her) time because unfortuantely my loved one is going to have to use Medicaid. I hope for many out there, that you ask questions about these places before you meet with the personnel. Beautiful surroundings and facility but they know how to make you feel like a nobody. Compassion people that's what it's all about...we are not doing this because we didn't work all our lives...we unfortuantely have to use the means of Medicaid because the standard of living made our lives difficult. We worked hard for our money and now we have to rely on the State of NJ. So remember when someone comes in to your facility and says they are going to use not look down your nose and judge these people. We are all the's just unfortunate that some do not feel that way. I hope this will not go on deaf ears.....thank you.

Response: I would like to talk with you. It should just go by what you can afford and left at that. We need more communities where people are accepted for who they are and not the bank account. These communities are being built to cause segregation. Lets start building communities that just accept a percentage of income. There are some but not nearly enough and the ones that are out there need to add the nursing home piece. It would also make people feel better.

Warning!! Do not put your loved one in this facility if you hope they will prevent injuries. Also, not good for rehab after hospital after said injuries. They do not have a PT staff on premises.
