We stopped by to visit a friend who was here at PALOMA BLANCA HEALTH AND REHABILITATION and we were shocked to see a man was extremely ill and obviously in a lot of pain due to the type of treatment he was getting we believe he was getting chemo treatment for cancer and a staff member a CNA’s was talking very nasty and mean to him the CNA was abusive to him throwing his legs around and he could in NO way defend himself he was crying and asking for more 5 ½ hours for his pain and other medications, my husband is not one to get involved but he had to say something we both went several times but were unable to get anyone to help him get his medications or talk to the CNA my husband decided to run it up the chain of command we were told to shut up and mind our own bisness, that did not sit well with him he stayed calm did not raise his voice or did not come across as threatening in any way we were asked to leave and not to return. We also watched people wandering the halls that were well lets just say not in there right mind and needed supervision before they hurt themselves or someone else. Not a place where we would ever put someone we care for!

This is not a place where you would ever want to send a love one. The staff has had several meetings with family members and nothing has been resolved our love one has been staying there had, how much the will bold face lie to you we would have had them moved to an other facility due to the fact we live out of town and things had gotten so bad we got the state involved the ombudsman who worked with us are surprised to find out just how deceitful the management and staff can be and when they get caught lying the chart things like the in there log books that our love one has refused or is not compliant with treatment. The shape of his skin was appalling while there was lotion sitting right on his table we even brought some from home and they were so lazy that would not even put it on him his skin was cracked and bleeding. They keep running out of his medications and had not changed his catheter in months it was leaking and was so dirty he kept getting UTI’s. The lady (and I use the term loosely) that runs dietary nutrition told us that the federal government dictates the amount they are aloud to give out and they would give him such a tiny amount he lost weight at an alarming rate we asked for double the amount and I am not a big eater but I could have eaten 10 trays and still wanted to go through a drive through NO joke I weigh about 108 lbs and am 5’ 10” and not a big eater. I could go on for hours I am telling you beware!!!!

Would I have known how this place was I would not have ever put my husband there. I did not have a lot of education but I can tell when someone lies to me I do the best I can to take care of my family I have been under a lot of stress my mom and dad are not well and having my husband in there and having to worrie what next thing this place will fuc_ up next my poor husband was so sick and they did not bring him his pills ne needs every day just to live they miss days all to gather or late and the management will not admit there is a problem. I call Tanya the case manager or go by to get things worked on or taken care of and she never fixes anything she seams more worried about my son being married or devorced than the residents health. The other persons who work there are not any better. My kids and me sit for hours listening to people screaming crying begging for help some of the nurses and cna's just sit at that station laughing and stuffing there faces with food but wont check for hours or check at all, now both my boy and my girl are having bad dreams when we come back from visiting there dad my says thats its cause of all screaming and no one comes to help and he wakes up crying cause he wories his pa pa will not get help.

Current Resident I have been here for 2 months and I am not happy with the services I am working with the ombubsman serices to resolve issues but to no resolve the ombudsman staff is working on helping me get moved to an other site. While at my stay here I have seen abuse to elderly residents the management has done there an investagation but sided on emplyoees side the mans family had to pull him out due to the abuse and take him home even tho witnesses came forth to testify. The staff was never able to get me to any of my many offsite appointments and when family and myself tried to work with Tanya the social worker she refused to admit there was an issue My family also trired to work with Gary and 2 Olivea's and they will tell you things will get done or they are still being worked on but never get back to you. The internet was promassed to be able to be used here dont fall for that 119 residents 1 conputer in a small room with an 8x4x4 cage known as the bird room there are NO TELLAPHONES in the rooms you have to pay the phone compony to install a phone pay for the installiton and a contratct for the length of time you are here. The food was some of the worst I have ever eaten. Some of the staff is great but not very many of them some of the staff Dr's, nurses, cna's (techs) talk to you as if you do not have a brain in your head and I fear for my life at times due to disagreements. I worrie someone is going to be hurt if the state does not do something soon there a lot of people here that can not speak for themselfs! I pray someone will read this and do an investagation tho I dont have much faith in our goverment and state officals cause the people who run and own thease places can pay off or donate money to there canpain and have the state look the other way. My advice Do Not bring your Love ones here unlesss you do not care for them and or wish to pay them back for all the mean or bad stuff they use to do to you in the past. NO JOKE PEOPLE THIS PLACE HAS 2 OUT 5 FOR A RATEING FOR A REASON IT SHOULD BE A 2 OF 5 IN THE NEGATIVE SIDE!

I just want to say the new manager at Paloma is great. He has made many positive changes and took good care of my dad while he was recovering there. He has his staff doing good work, I would recommend Paloma Blanca as a place to go.

I would strongly advise NOT using this company. Never in my life have I encountered such a miss-managed place. We had our mom in there for restorative. They restored nothing. She had a bed sore upon arrival that she got from the hospital; after almost 5 months of being there, it never improved, only got worse.
They wrenched her shoulder twice in process of transfers, and we filed a complaint. Never addressed. We requested an MRI for it and was refused citing insurance wouldnt pay. That should have been on their dollar, they did the damage to her. We requested podiatry services and never got it. This is a service they list that they provide. She was verbally abused by an aide, we filed a complaint, never addressed. We had filed 3 complaints total. Not one was addressed.
And the food is horrible. I have seen stuff come out of that kitchen that is indescribable as to what it was. I'm serious... I looked at a grey lump of something and couldn't tell what animal it was supposed to be. The kitchen staff was clueless as to what she was supposed to get with regard to dietary needs. They couldn't follow directions if their life depended on it. She'd get stuff she wasnt supposed to have, missing stuff she was supposed to get. Probably unskilled labor.
I blame leadership, not the staff. Apparently, our economy has affected the nursing home industry in a big way. They cut corners where they should not. And those that do work there, half of them are the kind that walk their way backwards to the paycheck window.
Kudos to some of the caring nurses and aides; there are a few good gems there but they are understaffed and over worked. There was a recent change of administration, the new administrator has his work cut out for him. If I was him, I'd take a good look at some of the other department heads. A few more heads should roll. Does he care... is the question?
Mom came home in worse condition than she had arrived. At least she is out of there now so WE can work on restoring her.
