01/12/2011 An Family Member of Current/Past Resident Writes: Making the decision to move my mom into the memory care program at The Promenade at Blue Hill was not an easy decision- what made it easier was the kind words from the caring staff, the experience of the caregivers and truly knowing my mom would be treated with the dignity and respect she deserves.

01/12/2011 An Family Member of Current/Past Resident Writes: My father in law moved up from Florida after being diagnosed with lung cancer. He was a very friendly, loving and kind man. After visiting many different places we all felt that the Promenade of Blue Hill felt like home. Dad was an observer and loved to talk to people especially the staff. He always shared with me what was happening in the home. The staff seemed to love him and he truly felt cared for. But more importantly he shared with me how kind the staff was to those residents who "really needed care". In his final days I could not have asked for a more supportive and caring group of care managers and management.

01/12/2011 An Family Member of Current/Past Resident Writes: The Promenade at Blue Hill has given me, and for sure, my parents, our lives back.
Last year, after a great deal of research, agonizing and guilt, I moved my parents to The Promenade. This cozy, intimate community, (all on one floor – how convenient) has a unique feature that I didn’t even know existed in the world of assisted living. My Dad has dementia but is physically as strong as an ox. My Mom on the other hand, has a sharp wit with a sharp memory to go along with it. Sadly, she has certain health issues that deem her quite frail and dependant on others for help with her personal needs. At the Promenade, I found a community that is actually 2 communities in one. One section is for folks with memory ailments who have different behaviors and very special needs. The other section is for folks who may need assistance with dressing, bathing, etc. When I found out that couples, where one has dementia and the other doesn't, could live in the same apartment and yet participate in activities appropriate for each of them. I was thrilled. Each has developed their own friendships and yet they dine together and enjoy the entertainment together. I am so thankful that my parents are able to experience this chapter in their lives with people who really care about their wellbeing and treat them as they would their own family members.
Mom and Dad no longer experience depressing isolation and have the socialization they thrived on in former years.
I am back to sleeping through the night, knowing they are safe and well cared for. For the past year, I have been loving both the quality and quantity of my time spent with them. THANK YOU PROMENADE!

05/17/2010 An OurParents User Writes: The Promenade nickels and dimes it's residents. If a resident is hospitalized, they make no visitations to see how their resident is progressing. When the hospital/rehab facility declares the resident is ready to return, the Promenade visits and deems if they are acceptable to come back. When a resident is hospitalized, they keep collecting the rent for the time away as well as personal care charges for two weeks. Reason is to adjust the number of staff but no staff reductions ever take place. Just another way to make a few dollars off the backs of seniors. Staff is rough with the patients that need toileting, etc.
