As soon as I walked in the facility I knew this was the last place I wanted my mother to spend her remaining days. I got no sense of compassion from the staff (both aides and nurses). In fact it was hard to identify who the nursing staff was as they seemed to spend most of their time either in an office or at the nursing station and left most of the care to the aides. The aides seemed over worked and over whelmed. The patients were grouped around the nurseing station and left there with nothing to do. Since my mother was non-verbal, the staff ignored her and would just walk right by her. She needed to be hoisted to use the bathroom facilities and when I mentioned to the staff that she need to go to the bathroom, it seemed to be a huge burden and would take over 20 minutes to find 2 people available to help. After two week in their care she ended up in the hospital with a urinary tract infection, pneumonia and severe dehydrations. The only good that came out of this was that she was moved to a much more caring facility.

Response: Where was the better facility?

I am sorry to say this was the worst place I could have sent my mother after a stroke. She almost died in their care of neglect. The staff acted as if everything was a bother for them to help her. The staff spent more time sitting at the desk then helping the patients. My mom had a feeding tube and they never provider her with fluid. After the first few days at the Baptist her recovery went down hill. After 2 weeks she was rushed to the hospital because she was severelly dehydrated and was almost in a coma. The physician at the hospital had said they had called the Baptist and had told them to provide her a certain amount of liquids which they said they were doing. Apprantely they lied. I have sent my mother to two other Nursing Homes (one now out of state) and it really showed me how much better other nursing homes are. Just be aware

Not the place it once was. Management keeps hiring one after another greedy consultant to do their jobs while staffing suffers and the basics are ignored. Caveat emptor!
