It would be a mistake to only take into consideration the age of this facility. My mother, 92, is living at A. Holly Patterson and suffering from dementia. One must look past the age of the physical plant and into the hearts of the caretakers, which are full of love. Management has exceeded my expectations and I am being followed up with very often; in fact moreso then the very expensive facilities we used prior. The facility is as clean as clean can be and the staff caring. I believe the facility is well run after having spoken with many staff members; medical, social and support. I have no complaints whatsoever.

This place is HORRIBLE. I can't believe the amount of neglect from A. Holly Patterson. Everything, absolutely everything was torture. I can only describe this place as being a horrible nightmare. STAY AWAY from A. Holly Patterson - there is no care whatsoever here.

How is this place still being run? Are you kidding me? Where should I start to complain about A Holly Patterson? Should I start with the smelly building? How about the amount of dirt on the floor or insects in the building? There is mold coming out of the walls. That is gross. Patients have been neglected, abused and humiliated. By the way, I forgot to mention about the lack of privacy and the creepy staff. They are the most unprofessional untrained people I have ever seen. Their food is so disgusting. I would rather eat dog food. I am telling you do NOT come here.

This is the worst place that I have ever seen. The building is run down, smells and is really creepy. The staff has the worst attitudes, are not well trained and patients are neglected. Shame on them for even allowing themselves to be called a nursing home.

Today, 8/27 - the day before the hurricane, AHP was presented with many patients that were evacuated from water front facilities on the south shore of Long Island.
The dedicated and well trained staff more than met the challenge. It was neccessary to provide care for their regular residents and at the same time familiarize themselves with their guest patients. They had to find out who they were and what they needed and what their current status was after being relocated on short notice.
Well the staff of Unit 14 that I observed met all the needs and challenges they were faced with.
In a crisis situation, they rose to the challenge.

Response: I wish I read your review before putting my father in there. They put him there for rehab for a broken elbow and hip. He was there 5 days and died. They did not offer and type of medical care whatsoever, failed to give him his nebulizer as specified and took off a brace for the elbow for an xray and never put it back on. I just lost him and he wasn't ready to go yet.

    Response: Yes, it really is.
