How can cnas not be experienced in feeding people with dysphagia, to where they get phenomenon and aspirate? Only the speech theapry for one meal, then rest of meals left to cnas to feed who are not trained. They don coach them to swallow right or not at all which leads to aspiration which leads to phenomenon. God I wish state would walk in at night or data unannounced but they tell them before coming which is crazy, the ones that don't have a voice like demitasse that can't speak for themselves when they peeded or pooped, I have been up there for hours and unless you go find someone to change them, it want happen, their put in wheelchair and forgotten cause they can't voice they have used the bathroom. I have seen so many wet pants and got on to them about it just thrower in closet floor, then caught them hanging on bathroom rail to dry when wet so I wouldn't know. Told week ago sick and coughing and just now doing xray, when told one of nurses few days ago something wrong, she is just sleeping in chair and coughing and not swallowing good they gave her Tylenol. Said she looks healthy, bull I know when something going on with her I took care of her for years. Stage 1 bottom. Not blaming all of it on cnas but they are understaffed, I know this for a fact. Thought policy change every two to three hours? Even if in wheelchair, can't ask her she don't understand when gone in her depend. Please the state or medicaid check and they do lie to when asked one will tell you one thing, then another something else, pop in on them no advance especially at night, see the things not correct

My mother-in-law was a resident at this "facility" before we transferred her out. We were completely unsatisfied with the facility. She was there only a short time, thankfully. The administrator comes across as being an incredibly discriminatory, condescending snob, the social worker is anything BUT helpful--seems to be too busy 'helping' herself to texting and telling you what she can't do and what's not her job, the nursing staff is obviously only there for the paycheck (and based on the quality of care my mother-in-law did NOT receive, they are not earning what little bit they must be getting paid.) Of course, if you blinked, you might miss someone as it seems they were always training someone because they can't keep consistent staff. Call lights went unanswered for more than 45 minutes-anytime we tried to use them, calling the nursing station after going home was a joke...NO ONE EVER ANSWERS. For the amount of money we paid, you would think there would be more than one working shower in the whole building, something they could do about the horrendous smell in the "newly renovated" shared space with the TV, and replace the 50 year old looking carpet.

My mother Ollie Cathey died on December 29,2011 at 3:28 pm.Less than 24 hrs her personal belongings were packed up without the family being notified.the nurse and cna's were at the nursing station and let all of us go to her room 129 to see that someone else had moved in less than 24 hrs after her death. This was very insenative, unprofessional.the social worker on duty (chandra hall? )i am sure she is a disgrace to the social work profession.she expressed to us that the facility doesn't hold beds.at this point we didnt need a bed-my mother had been dead less than 24 hrs and no one bothered to let us know that we had less than 24 hrs to get her belongings out of the room.i will tell every one i know about this incident-those living there and those looking for a place for their love one....there is no excuse for what happened. we were promised a call by the assistant night nuring director which we have not received...please don't place your love one in this non-caring facility.

Administrator has a very snide personality, accusatory, pert, not friendly at all to patients. My mother has 3 brain tumors and cancer & doesn't walk & her power wheelchair gave out while she was @ Heartland and it was a very big issue to get staff to take her in a regular chair. I was there last Sunday and no one answered her light for 1 hour and 40 minutes. In 4 months, she had 10 items that belonged to her personally that were stolen, talked to Administrator and staff was told they didn't have insurance to replace her personal things, that she should have put her name & room # on items, that was not the point, she had an address label on each of these things and they were taken anyway because they were small enough to fit into a pocket. Half the CNA staff cannot speak English or understand what the patient is trying to say, patients are not properly cleaned hygiene wise. Food is hit and miss, half the time my mother didn't get what she ordered and when she asked for what she ordered they said they had run out. Lots of problems with 3rd shift staff especially. I could go on and on but if you are in an power wheelchair they will not transport you on their bus to medical trips. We ended up going to the NC Ombudsman about 10 pages of problems at this facility. As soon as my Mother started speaking up they wanted to move her to another facility.
