Response: you may have a good view of Autumn Care in Marshville, but we had a not so good experience with them. My mother went there with dementia in need of physical therapy. When she did not improve, she was taken out of therapy per Medicare rules and no further help was provided in regards to any kind of therapy as far as helping herself. She could stand up by herself before she went there but after only a few weeks she could no longer stand or get up by herself so was constantly falling. They do not have adequate help per number of patients. I had sat with her for 3 hours waiting for them to have time to change her for bed several nights. If you do not have a relative going in to check on your relative, they will not get proper care. They are rolled up to a table to eat and if they do not eat, they they don't eat. They are not helped but by a few caring workers. Most workers are there just for the pay, not for the compassion for these helpless human beings. One nurse tried 1 time to get my mom to take her medicine and when she would not, she did not try again so she just did not get her morning meds. I had to threaten to come myself or have another relative come each day to give her her meds before she would make sure she was getting her meds. She fell out of bed or the wheel chair at least once a week. The last time she fell out, she suffered a stroke frome the fall and died a week later.
Meals are not prepared according to the patient. Some cannot eat whole food and unless the patients family sees the doctor, it cannot be pureeded so they can eat it. The nurses are not given permission or they are not caring enough to see what the patient needs and gets that message to the doctor. I understand most nursing homes are this way and it is a very sad situation for the patients and the family members that have no choice in the matter . submited 3-2014
