My mother checked in today for a 6 week stay while she recovers from her latest knee surgery. She will be leaving tomorrow. While they do offer wi-fi, which may seem like a luxury to some seniors but has been part of my mother's daily life for over 10 years, they do not offer a phone.

If you wish to get a phone you have to call the phone company and have it installed as if you were... renting an apartment? She is not in the permanent care portion of the facility. While other competing providers in the area do not provide wi-fi... this is the only one that does not offer a phone.

She is in a semi-private room and there is only one television, and no remote. Her room mate has the curtains drawn and prefers privacy, which is fine, but this means my mother is at the whim of this other person's viewing choices and hours. She has to have help even getting in a wheel chair right now so not having a remote to mute a TV when a phone call comes in... oh wait... no phones... I guess that's why no remotes?

Lastly, there is no choice of food. My mother hasn't eaten fried food in years... tonight it is either tater tots or no "vegetable" to go with the sloppy joes. With the 4 different antibiotics she is taking all she asks for is simple, salt free, baked or broiled.

This was the last straw for her... she contacted another facility in the area and scheduled a transfer.

Response: We appreciate all feedback to maintain our high quality standards as indicated by independent family satisfaction surveys provided by Scripps Institute of Miami University and our own satisfaction surveys as well as national and state ratings mentioned.
In this case, we are a bit perplexed by several of the details mentioned in this post. We have phones in all rooms and they are free of charge; we have five entree choices with additional substitution options, plus vegetable choices and additional off-menu options, and salad; there are two televisions with remotes and two phones in the four remaining double occupancy rooms that will be renovated, and the new rooms will have the already included two televisions with remotes, two phones, and the addition of two bathrooms, separate visiting spaces and are essentially adjacent private rooms. Please feel free to contact us directly about your experience as we swiftly work to resolve issues as proven by our excellent record.
