In-home care, provided by Lake Vista of Cortland, allows elders stay in the private homes in which they may have lived for years or decades. Assistance includes help with daily activities, personal care, and respite. Additional senior services, such as independent living, may also be offered by this community. Assisted living offers help as necessary, with the goal of providing the support that helps seniors stay as self-reliant as possible. Living in a senior community has many advantages. Research suggests that seniors who live near their peers and have a variety of social activities feel a greater sense of well-being. Assisted living provides senior-friendly homes and a welcoming staff. Other services you'll find include around-the-clock supervision and security, access to professional nurses, emergency call systems, help with daily living, and nutritious meals prepared by chefs. These communities typically provide linen service, housekeeping, transportation, and a calendar of social events. Independent living is designed for seniors who are self-reliant but who want to enjoy a low-maintenance life. Tailored for both individuals and couples, these senior communities are also known as retirement villages, 55+ communities, and senior apartments. Residents stay in private apartments or individual homes with a range of community amenities, services, and programs tailored just for seniors. You’ll enjoy your own space, so you can bring your favorite belongings, such as furniture and personal items. With independent living, residents won't have to worry about maintenance, mowing, or other chores associated with home ownership. Because independent living communities are intended for older adults who need little or no assistance, most do not offer medical care or supervision. You'll find many social programs and community amenities, such as gardening, bridge, bingo, fitness programs, book clubs, and planned outings. In-home care is ready when you or a loved one needs it. The second, more common, type of in-home care is supplied by an aide who can provide companionship and emotional support as well as assist with daily activities, including grooming, meal prep, and transportation. In-home care delivers the services seniors need to maintain their independence at home.
