The management is the ones letting that place fall apart . They sit in there offices or conference room and play around all day. I guess Tue corporate office does not care that they do. They have had several calls about how their management team is and they do nothing. It is sad to see a place that was once so great be ruined because of the management.

Response: I worked here as a STNA back in 2007 at the age of 16, I WALKED OUT because this place was so bad, I was made to stay to midnight most school nights because no one wanted to come to work. I saw so much abuse and stealing in this place I only lasted a few months. right after I left I know it was shut down for a few because of all the abuse that went on. fast forward to last year my grandmother stayed here for rehab and was FORGOTTEN! days in a row she was not brought food or her meds, they "lost" some of her RX's. My mom and me had to go down every day to check on her and she was in her right mind and would tell us what went on. April is a JOKE! I can't believe she is STILL THERE! how is she not fired? I wouldn't even put my DOG in here. I really want to know how the hell this place is still open? why has no one been fired or arrested? we all need to call the board of nursing and get this place shut down and fixed!

Response: Totally false!

Response: Totally false! This facility was never shut down!

I would not put my dog in this facility, Management is a joke they are never out of their offices. The women that run this place should be fired and replaced by someone who actually know's what they are doing. Beth and April the so called RN would be the first one's to go.

I would never, I repeat NEVER use this facility for ANY type of care. The administration and nursing staff is biggest joke I've ever seen. Working in a health care environment, within a hospital, I could not believe the practices I've seen before my eyes. Director of Nursing, April, is completely incompetent in performing any duties listed in her job description. Beth, the administrator, will sit down and listen to what you have to say and then never do anything with the information. They will tell you that they are going to do something and NEVER follow up. They are always in meetings, which I can't imagine, the meetings need to be geared towards bettering the practices of this place. They really need to fire everyone and start fresh. They truly do not care about the patients within this facility. I can't believe people working within the health care system act so selfish. My mother came here for in-patient rehab care after a double knee replacement surgery and they have no skills in caring for someone. Nurses or Aids walking to the room and have no idea what she needs because they've not been informed on her needs. Her medication dosage was changed by a contracted doctor that practices here without notifying her or her own personal physician. Elderly residents walk into her room at all times of the day, either lost or confused. They're short staffed and the staff that they do actually have is completely LAZY. After all of this, I have read so many terrible reviews on this place it's unreal and THEY DO NOT CARE. We chose this place because it was close to her home so we could visit and be with her, HUGE MISTAKE. I pray that if you have family here that you are involved with knowing what goes on and if you are looking for quality care for a family member, for any type of care the "offer", that you look into another. I will say, the ONLY thing this facility has going for them is the Physical Therapy Staff/Rehab. They have helped out my mother substantially, with not only rehabbing her, but with making sure that the nurse came to deliver medication on time when they came to get her.

This facility is extremely short staffed. Residents sometimes wait hours for a response on their call button. Management does not respond to complaints. The facility is fairly nice looking but there is some problem when, in today's economy, you can't retain staff. If the facility is short on staff, it should be easy to find replacement personnel. People who cannot get out of bed by themselves should not have to wait hours to be changed into dry clothes and bedding.

Response: you have to realize that Shawneespring is a newer nursing hone but is being run by people who are making this home older than it needs to be, all of management needs to be replaced and i guarantee they will get a deficiency free facility the upper management are not honest people

My Dad, family, and myself were very happy with our experience at Shawnee. All of the staff were very friendly and attentive to his needs! Staff spent a lot of time teaching us, so we could give dad the best care at home. This place is very clean and home like. All of us would recommend Shawneespring to our friends and family!
