I see things haven't changed. My mother was there years ago. She was never ambulated, always in a filthy diaper and unprotected from a roommate who kept hitting her. Owner , Jack, was smug and uncaring. Director of nursing was phony and clueless. When I voiced concerns, I was treated as a villain and nurses fabricated documentation to make the family look bad.

I brought my mom here because it was nearby and I had to make a quick decision due to other obligations I had prior to placing her here in this facility! Well, I honestly cannot believe the awful things I have heard and seen about this place since mom has been here. I immediately took her out and paid privately until I could find a home that was suitable for her and for her well-being. This place to begin with had no heat for days when it was zero below. I complained and it went for over a week without getting fixed! The food I wouldn't even feed to my pet! Oh, and for kicks, I heard residents and kitchen staff talking about the owner Jack Smilovitz did not pay his bills so that is why they were limited to peanut butter & j sandwhiches for dinner and soup because the kitchen had NOTHING else available. The Aides I was very pleased with, they took care of mom really well, but some of the nurses were kind of rude. They were very slow with delivering meds. I watched the clock go by over 30 minutes before I personally approached a unit nurse that my mom was in pain. They had a water shut off notice. The garbage over flows outside! There is a guy named Nick, it is my understanding that he is the Unit manager but he berates his staff and made a young lady cry in front of her peers because she refused to write her aides up for sitting. I written Vin Lee a letter (D.O.N.) about the behavior of this unit manager a couple times as I have saw him yell at aides and nurses and she ignored it completely. I still have not heard from her till this day. I see this same Unit manager outside smoking every minute to the hour. I felt so bad for some of the staff, they work so hard and I was told they do not get raises and their checks bounce all the time. If they voice their opinion about this, Vin Lee and the New ADMINISTRAOR Tom,, tells them: ''If they don't like it, LEAVE''. Mentorway cannot keep staff and I can see why and understand now. The D.O.N., Unit Manager and ADMINISTRAOR are the problems and it trickles all the way down. One of the ladies from Mentor-way put her two weeks in after their last bounced check because she was fed up with it. I offered her a job to watch mom paying $3 more than she was getting at Mentor-way. If you want something done, threaten them with calling STATE! They get their act together fast and provide A-1 service when they're expecting STATE.
