I hope Medicare will inspect thse facility soon. Smells terrible, although I must say they keep their floors clean while leaving the patients in poop. Nurses do nothing but sit behind their station. Bells can ring for hours, they will never move. If an aid is not available, to bad. Spent two weeks visiting my mother, This place should be closed down, or management should make these LPN's get off their butts and do somthing. Don't think that will hapen soon.

My mother has been a resident here since September, 2009. I looked at other nursing homes (both before and after she came here after a stroke) and I was impressed with the cleanliness and the fact that there always seem to be so many people around. There was only one other facility that seemed better and there were no vacancies there. The people who work there (RNs, aides, etc) are very friendly and helpful and seem to care. (Of course, her family is always around so that may have some impact). There seems to be very little turnover. I do have three complaints: (1) it takes a really long time to get someone to respond to a call button (2) the airconditioning doesn't work in several of the rooms & they can't seem to be able to figure out how to fix it, (3) the "small" rooms are really small and (4) the newly remodelled rooms are nicer but are not arranged to really give the resident more room.

My mother has been a resident since August 30, 2009. I have very little experience with this type of facility, but I have been pleased with Walnut Creek, so far. What impressed me at first was the number of staff that were always around -- either caring for residents or cleaning or bringing food, etc. It is a very active place. There doesn't seem to be a very big turnover in staff, which is good. And they do seem to care. Of course, my husband and I visit every day (or more than once a day) and that might affect the way the staff treat my mom. My only complaints? It takes a long long time for an aide to respond when someone squeezes the "help" button. Also, some of the semi-private rooms are very very small.
