This facility needs to be closed down. There are so many HIPPA violations, (leaving medications for an Alzheimer patient on a table in her room, expecting her to remember to take them. Pills out in clear view where anyone walking by her room could see them), abuse (verbally degrading residents, threatening they will not get their meal if they don't "hurry up".), neglect (86 y/o resident fell and suffered a head injury and was NOT taken to the hospital by the facility, nor examined by the staff physician. Family was not notified.) Residents are overmedicated (which is what led to the above residents fall). The monthly charges have gone up with no explanation. (Up $2000/mo) The rooms smell and are not cleaned properly. This facility is deplorable. Please do not consider placing a loved one in Dorothy Love.

My Mother was in Dorothy Love to stabilize her medication and for rehab. She was well taken care of and when her meds were changed or any change in condition, we were notified. We took Mom back home in much better health then when she went in. And the staff already miss her!

Nurses could be more involved in the direct care of the residents rather than searching high and low for nurse techs to do simple things, seems that nurses are sitting in their office area a good bit of the time.

I would NOT recommend this facility. There are many citations that have been covered up by administration as if they never occured. Staff that are abusive to residents are abundant, even after brought to the attention of the director of nursing. Retaliation is the worst. Staff development is not only frowned upon but also punished. Nurses have been witnessed hastening residents deaths by overmedicating with Morphine when not appropriate. Do your homework before checking into this facility. The name, size, and the looks are very deceptive.

Response: Have heard nothing positive at all about this nursing home, just from word of mouth and after reading this I would NEVER place a loved one here

Nursing care facilities cater to several types of patients: some patients require short-term rehab while recovering from surgery; others require long-term nursing and medical supervision. In addition, some nursing homes offer specialized care programs for Alzheimer's or other illnesses, or short-term respite care for frail or disabled persons when a family member requires a rest from providing care in the home. Please note that you can help compare nursing homes by looking at the Medicare ratings of a given facility (Medicare has a 5-star rating system for comparing nursing homes). There are various ways for paying for care in a nursing home. Make sure you know your loved one's Medicare and Medicaid eligibility, and understand how you can use tools like long term care insurance to pay for nursing home care.

Assisted living facilities are an apartment-style habitat designed to focus on providing assistance with daily living activities. They provide a higher level of service for the elderly which can include preparing meals, housekeeping, medication assistance, laundry, and also do regular check-in's on the residents. Basically, they are designed to bridge the gap between independent living and nursing home facilities. When thinking about how to pay for care, assisted living facilities are generally less expensive than nursing homes, if assisted living is a viable option for your loved one.

Also, Dorothy Love Retirement Community is an in-home care provider. In Home care could be either medical ("skilled") or non-medical ("custodial") support services delivered at the home of the senior. "skilled" service providers who usually provide various medical care needs and "custodial" care providers who provide services for daily living such as bathing, dressing, and meal preparation but may also extend to assistance with transportation, paying bills, making appointments, and simply being there to provide companionship and emotional support. Home Care services are generally available 24 hours a day, seven days a week and are sometimes paid for directly by the client or through a variety of public and private funding sources such as Medicare and/or Medicaid. Make sure you know your loved one's Medicare and Medicaid eligibility, and understand how you can use tools like long term care insurance to pay for in home care.
