11/05/2014 An Interested Visitor Writes: My mother is at Altenheim, and I am very unhappy with the care she is receiving there. They give her the wrong medicine all the time. They told me that they forgot to update for the new month. If they did, why are they giving her the wrong meds then? Most of the staff there are sneaky, when you ask a question, they look down and stammer their words. We picked Altenheim because they were rated high. If this is the best nursing home in ohio, I fell sad for all the other old people in regular nursing homes, because this one " Altenheim" is pathetic. We are looking for another nursing home for her now. Please everyone, don't pick a home for your cherished loved one by the ratings.

07/11/2013 An Family Member of Current/Past Resident Writes: Terrible, understaffed, John Corey is a joke. He is a snake, lieing, deceiving, fake and above all a moron like half the administration at Alteheim. They have too many people on certain units that don't belong. Don't use safety precautions during flu season (led to over 100 deaths during Christmas time) They are a disgrace. And they treat staff like dogs.

Response: I am also a family member of a former/past resident of altenheim nursing home. I was sorry to hear your family had such a bad experience, because our family thought this was such a wonderful place, the best around. My mom loved the care she received there. If she unfortunately needed to be in a nursing home, we were glad altenheim was available to care for her.

Response: I am finding it difficult to believe that a nursing home facility could have 100 patients die in one month and not be under investigation for that.

Response: I believe the 100 deaths were all over America not Strongsville Altenheim. You can interpret the sentence different ways, but it only makes common sense that 100 deaths where all over America.

02/02/2011 An Family Member of Current/Past Resident Writes: Thank you, each one of you, for your constant care of our father, and our family during our time with you. You all made a difficult situation easier. We deeply appreciate your kindness in dealing with our many requests. May God richly bless your staff in your continued service to so many others.

11/18/2010 An Family Member of Current/Past Resident Writes: We would like to thank you for a place we could feel safe leaving our loved one. The staff on Autumn Lane was wonderful (the last almost four years) beginning with the cleaning staff on going to the nursing aides, nurses and supervisors. Kathy the recreation coordinator has a real gift with her patients and their families. In this economy it's hard to offer quality care but please keep striving for that, it's such a blessing. God bless your continuing work.

06/22/2010 An OurParents User Writes: I cannot believe the review I just noticed. I have to tell you I have had the oposite experience. The staff, administration, physician, including laundry and housekeeping could not have been more attentive. From the minute you walk through the front doors you feel at home. The care and compassion from the staff for my mother was impecable. I would refer this facility to anyone who is looking for excellent care for a loved one.

Response: Obviously some oh these visitors do not know how horrible the staff is to alot of residents. My father passed away in this facility form s severe dehyderation cdiff and sepsis. And the lies fly from the administration. No one really gave a @#$%. They were severly understaffed. This place if a disgrace go the community

03/14/2010 An OurParents User Writes: My mother has been there for almost 2 years. There is one and only one aide who is genuinely concerned about her or the other residents. The others are just all talk, no compassion. The same goes for the administration. All talk. I would move her but it would be too much for her mentally and physically, so we have to hire a helper to be there when we cannot. Pretty sad, for what they have the nerve to charge. I would never recommend them to anyone.

Altenheim is a nursing home. It provides medical nursing service for seniors with serious illnesses or disabilities twenty-four hours a day, delivered by registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, and certified nurse aids.

Nursing care facilities cater to several types of patients: some patients require short-term rehab while recovering from surgery; others require long-term nursing and medical supervision. In addition, some nursing homes offer specialized care programs for Alzheimer's or other illnesses, or short-term respite care for frail or disabled persons when a family member requires a rest from providing care in the home. Please note that you can help compare nursing homes by looking at the Medicare ratings of a given facility (Medicare has a 5-star rating system for comparing nursing homes). There are various ways for paying for care in a nursing home. Make sure you know your loved one's Medicare and Medicaid eligibility, and understand how you can use tools like long term care insurance to pay for nursing home care.

Also, Altenheim is an assisted living facility. Assisted living facilities are an apartment-style habitat designed to focus on providing assistance with daily living activities. They provide a higher level of service for the elderly which can include preparing meals, housekeeping, medication assistance, laundry, and also do regular check-in's on the residents. Basically, they are designed to bridge the gap between independent living and nursing home facilities. When thinking about how to pay for care, assisted living facilities are generally less expensive than nursing homes, if assisted living is a viable option for your loved one.

Also, Altenheim is a Senior Community. Senior communities are for seniors who can take care of themselves. It is often a set of apartments in a variety of sizes from studios to large two bedrooms, where seniors live independently, but may receive additional services like transportation, pools, a convenience store, bank, barber/beauty shop, resident laundry, housekeeping, and security, are all services and amenities that may be provided there.

Also, Altenheim facility provides Alzheimer's care. This means it has special safeguards for wandering seniors, and caregivers are trained in handling dementia behaviors.

Also, Altenheim care provider provides hospice care. Hospice care is an infusion of home care and facility care provided to benefit terminally ill patients and support their families through their tough times.

Also, Altenheim is a skilled nursing facility (SNF). It is primarily engaged in providing skilled nursing care and related services for residents who require medical or nursing care; or rehabilitation services for the rehabilitation of injured, disabled, or sick persons.

Skilled nursing facilities cater to patients who either need short-term rehab while recovering from surgery; or require long-term nursing and medical supervision. Skilled Nursing facilities are very often associated with area hospitals.
