I can say that my Mom has been in this nursing home for one year. She has enjoyed the travel around town and out to eat at many locations. When Mom gets sick the nursing staff called a family member immediately and we came to hospital. Mom has never had any trouble with the staff, they have always been kind and polite to her. The management team over my Mom have meetings with us about Mom's care she is getting. My personal thought is that I would not want my Mom to be any place else in Urbana Ohio then right where she is. My family visits my Mom all the time and believe me if there was wrong doing going on with any person we would see and tell. I have NEVER seen any staff be anything but kind to the people who live here. Love this place and the great care they give each and every person. They even go out of there way to help all you have to do is ask....and if they can assist you they will. I rate them as excellent :-)

This facility is grossly understaffed and the care of the residents has decreased severely. What aides that are left do not want to work there but have no other options. Nurses are asked to come in and work as aides because of the staff deficiencies. Resident's are crying out for help. I pray that the State will investigate this facility for the lack of care and concern, wrongful diagnosis, and gross neglect.

While there are several nice and competent staff they are overshadowed by the staff that speak unpleasntly to the residents and family. But don't bother to complain about the "bad" staff - it does no good and may even make things worse. There is not enough communication from staff to the family about what is being done to/for the resident and if you question why they are doing things they respond in a defensive manner.

A short term resident needing exta care following hip replacement surgery tells of long wait of call lights, then being told that call lights mal-functioned and did light up. Medications not given on a timely basis. Toilet stopped up for an entire weekend because maintenance does not work during that period. Floor registers not adjusting and air conditioning too cold. Resident's family was with them during entire daytime, so only night-time care was really required and did not meet the needs of resident. After 5 days, resident was able to be totally self-sufficient for bath bathing themselves, feeding themselves and taking their own medications on the proper schedule that they were accustomed to.
Planned to stay for 21 days, but went home after 11 days. Resident felt facility was very understaffed but felt that nursing aides were very helpful when they finally answered the call lights.
Since another hip replacement surgery is being planned in the next several weeks, resident is planning to go directly home after dismissal from hospital.
    Very disappointing stay in McCauley.
One bright note - Physical Therapy Dept. is more than excellent and that was why resident chose McCauley in the first place.
