Elmcroft of Xenia was our first facility for our loved one needing supervised care having Alzheimer's disease. The lock down area was very secure, however; there is NO air ventilation. The area most always smelled unclean and stale. Several times we found our loved one in need of a shower and proper grooming. Between myself and 4 other family members, we visited various days and times rarely finding residents doing any quality activities. Physical relations were allowed to develop between residents that was alarming for us as family members to see. We found the staff in the lock down area usually helpful and friendly but stressed at times due to insufficient quantity of staff vs. residents. Kitchen area usually did not have items or enough staff needed for serving meals. After a scheduled meeting with Elmcroft management to address our concerns, we felt confident, but later concluded we felt we were told what they thought we needed to hear for concerns were only addressed for a very short time. Buyer beware.

The care and cleanliness has gone downhill. The furniture is aged and starting to fall apart. It used to be when you walked in everyone was nice and said hello not so much anymore. When a resident pushes the button for help its sometimes takes up to a 25 minutes, this is not good when your in need of help. There is always turnover in aids and Director of Nursing. I have had concerns about my loved one and when I call I get told that the person I need to talk to is in a meeting and will call me back but they don't. Overall as far a assisted living facilities go it is one on the nicer ones in the area but it has gone downhill fast.
