Grace Living Center in El Reno, OK 73036

If anyone is thinking of putting a loved one in this facility.... DON'T ??They're 5 star rating doesn't apply to the care of the patients. The Administrator, Floor Nurses and Case Manager are burned out and use bullying tactics to intimidate patients and especially family members who challenge the rights, every patient and their designated family members have. The right to know what care and medicines their family members are getting, called (hands-on approach).

This facility allows the residents early on in their stay, to decline any request of all kind, especially hygiene. This frees their short handed staff (low wage workers) to move on to the next patient, which accounts for the frequent turn-over ratio. It is a For-Profit facility which means; If your family member needs rehab to become mobile, they will try to keep them wheelchair bound as long as possible. This facility uses numerous methods to achieve this dependency but our personal experience wasn't just limited to the house doctor changing meds or increasing meds (that the actually hospital doctors) were weaning the patient off of. When all is said and done, it all comes down to the all mighty buck verses health of patient.

This facility is extremely old and outdated with wind coming through every window in every room, (since Oklahoma has all directional winds). Elderly patients (residents) are usually cold during the winter and vice verses during the spring and summer. The blankets they use for the patients warmth, look like they belong to the cat and two basset hounds, who roam freely through the rooms and facility. I firmly believe animals are therapeutic but they SHOULD BE of the non-allergenic kind if they are to reside there 24/7 or just visiting therapeutic animals, if they are allergenic.

The BULLYING / INTIMIDATION by the "so called" powers to be, cannot be overlooked or tolerated. They should not be allowed to warehouse our elderly family members and in this authors opinion, SHOULD change professions.. If you are reading this, USE A OUTPATIENT REHAB FACILITY...., NOT THIS JOKE OF A ONE...

There isn't one thing I liked about this nursing home. It was awful. The floors were dirty. The staff was rude to us. My Dad's care was horrible.
