As a former employee and current volunteer, it saddens me to report that although the facility looks nice, it is terribly understaffed and its residents suffer from a great deal of neglect and even some abuse. When I first began as an employee this nursing facility staffed 6-8 certified nurse aides and two med aides on the day shift. It now has a maximum limit of 4 Cnas and two med aides and most days carry along with 2-3 Cnas. There are 75 residents, most of which are incontinent and unable to meet their own needs. The current owner of this facility has seen to it that extreme cutbacks have been made and as a result it has caused an onset of neglect and poor treatment of the residents. The Director and assistant Director do not use fair treatment towards their employees and in turn can not keep them. The turnover is very high. If you find you must place your loved one in this facility, you must visit them every day to ensure that they are not being neglected. I have witnessed resident sitting in their urine and feces for hours because there simply is not enough help to get to all the residents. When you do visit try to come at different times of the day. You must be an advocate for your loved one. These people need our deepest respect and care and unfortunately this facility does not promote either.
