I am helping a fellow church member who has been a resident of this facility. Ms Kathy Holt has been trying to evict him and has violated FEDERAL law in her attempt to do so. She has also been physically and verbally abusive to him and his guests and has lied to her attorney about the status of his apartment (I know because I talked to the attorney and I was at his apartment), but he backs her up. As a mandatory reporter of elder abuse, I have reported this to APS and have gotten him an attorney. If anyone who knows of the behavoir she exhibits is interested, call Legal Aid of Tulsa and contact the Adult Protective Services of DHS; file your own complaint or act as witnesses. She needs to be as far away from elderly and disabled as this planet allows.

Response: To the User who wrote the May 25, 2011 review: I have not found either APS or Legal Aid to be effective and have initiated a lawsuit - Baker v. Holt, et al., 11-CV-92-TCK-PJC in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Oklahoma. I think we can help each other. Please call the Court Clerk at 918-699-4700 for my contact information. Or submit an amicus brief to the Court regarding your friend's difficulties. I've been having trouble getting witnesses to come forth because anyone still living there is terrified of getting evicted for speaking up, given what was done to me. Don't expect much help from the authorities. I tried repeatedly to alert them to the situation. When told that deaths should be investigated under the suspicion that a vulnerable old person had been pushed over the edge with stress from abuse, the Tulsa Police Officer on the phone said they don't bother with that kind of thing unless obvious violence was involved. If the blood ain't showing the cops ain't going.

Glenwood has started billing long term residents who leave voluntarily for new carpets and wall paint, calling wear and tear "damage". And if the resident is evicted, Glenwood also bills for all legal fees. Under Oklahoma law, a landlord can evict for any reason, even if he doesn't just like the shape of your Black or Jewish nose. Plan on some extra fees at the end of your stay, amounting to hundreds to over a thousand dollars, even if you have to leave for medical reasons. Recently a resident got evicted for a balcony fire, which the management said was caused by a cigarette. The balconies had been unpainted for years, and were as dry as driftwood, before a single layer of paint was slapped over them for appearances, allegedly to get a loan.

While it can physically decent place to live, in spite of poor maintenance response, Glenwood Apartments is not a "continued care community". It provides no care whatsoever. In 2010, it even stopped answering medical emergency pull cords and phone calls after hours. This meant no immediate response to a resident on the floor calling for help. One woman nearly died. Whether or not this is still true is not known, but the manager at the time was a woman named Cathy Holt. Once, she even demanded that all residents, disabled or not, be responsible for checking their smoke detectors once a week, about seven feet off the floor. Her stated attitude is that if you don't like her methods, you can leave.
