As a care giver at Consulate I can tell you that it is a good place. We care about our residents and develope a sence of family and the desire to protect them. We take pride in the work that we do and try our best to make each residnet feel at home. Sure we are not perfect as no facility is, but when we find an area that needs improvement we work towards making it better. And it is funny how we will sometimes get a complaint that the unit smell like BM or urine. Do those people who complain think that their BM doesn't stink? We have several residents with colostomies and many who are incontinent. When we change the colostomy bags or takes someone to the bathroom, sometimes the BM smell lingures into the hallway. Some residents have urine infections and their urine smells very strong. So please stop and think before you critisize. We have a tough job but we take is serious and provide excellent care to our residents!!

This facility is a 5 star in my book. If you read about how the Nursing Home Compare calculates the star rating, it can easily be misinterpreted. I had my loved one in Belair,Golden Living in Oakmont and Rebecca Residence. I can honestly tell you that Consulate blows those other homes away. All I can say is you will not be disappointed if you give them a try.

I currently work at Consulate and think it is the best place to work. We love our residents and we take pride in the work we do. It is upsetting to see negative comments about Consulate because they are not true. Yes the facility needs some updating and the parking is not so good but we give good care and isn't that whats important? I really think the bad comments are from other staff that were fired for not doing their job. Staff who blame the administrator and director of nursing for everything when they get in trouble for not doing their job are the ones who are writing bad comments. They need to grow up.

Consulate Health Care halped me alot after I fell and broke my hip. The therapy dept staff were so nice and they helped me get back on my feet and return home. All the nurses were nice and friendly. The management staff were also friendly and helpful. The star rating system does a terrible job of showing how this rehab and nursing facility really treats their patients. To me they are a 5 star.

The 5 star rating for nursing homes is not accurate. My loved one was in another nursing home that was newer, closer to my home and had a 4 star rating. Let me tell you that their care was horrible and their therapy dept did not improve my loved ones ability to walk. The staff was rude and unfriendly. I transfered my loved one to Consulate in Cheswick on Saxonburg Blvd and it was the best move I could have ever made. The facility was older but with a country feel. Not alot of bells or whistles but the care was excellent and it was clean. Therapy helped my loved one to return to their prior level of ambulation but even better. The staff were friendly and really cared. The food was ok but not like home. My loved one was able to return home after all the good care and therapy Consulate provided. I read some negative comments about Consulate and cannot believe the things that were said. I figure those comments had to be made by bad ex employees who were mad for maybe being fired. I would recommend Consulate in Cheswick for anyone looking for nursing or rehab. They will succeed in getting you back home. So do not go by the 5 star rating like I did because it does not show a facilities positive outcomes or staff friendliness. I was fooled by a false 4 star rating. Not again! It will be Consulate for my family if need again.
