The place is not very clean. Rooms are over crowded. The activities staff caters more to the residents that are in skilled nursing . Alzheimers residents seem to be "forgotten " alot. Also there is no outside access for the Alzheimers residents to go and enjoy the grass or outside. There is only one small enclosed area to which the residents of one Alz unit have to travel through another unit to get to. There is a beautiful open porch off of one of the Memory care units which includes picnic tables, rocking chairs, and a swing for wheelchairs. This area is not utilized as there is inadequate staffing to watch the residents outside in this area. The residents are put into their pajamas before dinner for the convenience of the staff. The staff is often seen using their cell phones . The website states that there iz 24 hour security. Often the security officers are not present as they are utilized to go pick up residents from appointments or to pick up various prescriptions from local drug stores. Upon a recent walk thru...noticed staff reading newspapers or talking to other staff about their personal business as call bells were ringing. Supervisory staff is rarely seen. Technologically deficient. Residents have to ask for use of a telephone at a nurses station or purchase a cell phone to which most do not understand. Union run. Staff does as little as needed as the union will "back up" this inappropriate behavior, however there are a small few who go above and beyond. In Memory care unit there is not continuity of care. Staff seems to "horse around" alot. Very unprofessional. Seems to have a high turn over rate for aides. Residents often look unkempt. ..needing shaved, nails cleaned or trimmed.

Everything at this home is geared for men. Even though they accept women, they cater for men. Activities are geared for men. The activities department needs to be more creative. Lots of governmental bureaucracy. Very Technolologically deficient. Buildings are so old that they did not think about adding wiring for telephone for each resident. They have to depend on using a phone at nurses station or purchase a cell phone (which could get lost plus seniors don't understand them). Not impressed. I would give the facility a 67.49%. They could do better. Many staff don't care because they are union and the union will protect their butts. But there are few who will jump hoops.
