Response: I have been to numerous nursing homes in the area. Some were rated as 5 star facilities. Berks Heims staffing is the same as most resputable nursing homes. But I can attest to the above average cleanliness. Staff are competent and caring. In any facility you will find a employee that is lacking. It is your duty to report that to the charge nurse or director of nursing. Complaints can not be delt with if administration is not aware.Overall Bereks Heim can rival any nursing home in Berks country.

04/12/2012 An Family Member of Current/Past Resident Writes: Not enough staff. My father had to wait too long to get help to use the bathroom. He ended up incontinent in a very short period of time. I see the employees working very hard but they can only do so much. Also did not like the staff turnover. It takes awhile to get to know the good nurses, which ones to trust with your loved ones. The ones you can go to and will listen to you and then they are gone. Very disappointing. I think the low staff and management must not care. I guess it is like everything else. Money.

02/07/2010 An Family Member of Current/Past Resident Writes: My parent has been a resident for two years. The care is generally good, although there are times when there is a staffing shortage, particularly around major holidays. It is advisable for the family to have a frequent "presence" when possible so that as staff rotate, the patient's needs are not overlooked.
