I am so disappointed to read the negative reviews. My experience has been the exact opposite. My Dad is in Monticello for some time now. The nurses, therapist and management have gone above and beyond our families expectations. They have worked very hard fighting with his insurance company to get the best medications for him. They've kept us up to date constantly. They are quick to respond to his calls for assistance. They are up beat and caring. The facility is clean and inviting. All of the patients are dressed and well groomed, by the staff. The pleasant environment seems more like home than a nursing home. My Mom is a clean freak and she can't find anything wrong. She sits with my Dad 7 am to 9 pm. So believe me she knows what's going on. I agree with the following statement another person posted...An incredibly caring staff, much higher staffing levels than I have seen at other communities, it is clean, the food is good and the managment is always available and eager to correct any issues that may come up.
Sadly, more unhappy people will post comments than happy ones. It's just the way it goes with feedback. Please, do consider Riddle & Monticello. Check it out for yourself, don't go by a few negative comments.
Thank you,
Kathy Besa

My mother-in-law was there for 3 weeks (Sep-Oct 2016). Day care was below average, and night care was a disaster. The day aides and LPNs do not smile and look as though they don't want to be there. It is a very gloomy place. According to my M-I-L, the night care was terrible. The staff were rude to her and did not respond in a timely matter (Medicare inspection reports are counter to this). The furniture in he room was old and falling apart. I would not recommend Monticello to anyone. They are a law suit waiting to happen.

Do not bring your loved one to Riddle Village, much much nicer cleaner places in the area. Management staff is a joke including the Director of Nursing Carmen who never returns phone calls and when you speak to her in person she switches your words around and makes absolutely no sense. The lady who has an office beside her really has no clue what is going on and is straight out of the hood, she is in charge of communicating with the insurance companies, what a joke! my mom had a large unexpected bill 1 month after discharge and when I contacted the insurance company they informed me that they never received the requested information from Riddle Village and attempted to contact nurse Chanell several times and when they did get ahold of her she only gave them half the story and never returned any calls they were waiting for certain assessments.
Nurses are never around and if they are around they are doing nothing but eating greasy food right out in the public areas disgusting. Nursing assistances are know help when my mom was discharged we actual took her to another skilled nursing facility nearby and she got the care she needed and was able to come home within 3 weeks. Thank goodness we went somewhere else because Riddle Village was about to write her off when in fact she just didn't thrive there because she wasn't treated nicely. I can't believe this so called fancy place operates in this manner really really pathetic spend one day there and you will be able to see for yourself whatthe Monitcello House is all about

Do not bring any loved ones to this facility! They charge you for everything the care is very very very poor. Food is disgusting and served in a gross dining room that is loud and cold. The staff are hard to identify. Administration is never around the Director of Nurses took a week to return my call. When I had a meeting to discuss my fathers care the nurse seemed bothered and showed up late interrupting the dietitian when she was speaking, incredibly rude. His nurse had no clue what medications my father was on and had no idea he had pneumonia. I have a medical background and my father unfortunately has been in a few facilities and this was not only the most expensive but the WORST place I've ever seen do not go here

Response: I totally agree. My mother is a resident here now and they do not take care of her properly. I cannot give too many details because of legal reasons. Do not use this place, short staffed, poor communication with employees, difficult administrators.

Place is a disaster dirty old and outdated. My mother stayed on the Monticello Nursing unit for rehab I seriously think she came home worse after that stay, it practically traumatized her horrible experience. Hard to ever find anybody and when you do they are very rude you feel like you are a nuisance for asking for help and the people are downright scary looking who care for the patients NEVER smiling. I agree staff is uneducated, management always seems to give you a round about answer to any problems. The people in charge hardly get around, they never return phone calls unless you call them over and over. You get charged for this and that. When any changes occurred with my mom they never called me, I figured it out on my own or went to the nice social workers (social worker was wonderful! only good thing about the place) I would not recommend this place and will never return if I need to place my mom some where long term

Response: I can't believe someone else wrote this, I feel like it came out of my own mouth! Our family has said the same things to the directors here. They have serious problems. And they don't seem to care to fix them. It's unfortunate for my father we couldn't take him out. Do not use this facility. I don't know if there is a place out there that is any better, I fear there may not.

My mother has been complaining that after signalling for attention that it usually takes at least a half an hour to an hour before someone responds. She is in the nursing care unit for rehab. I met with the managment staff who said only six times was her request for assitance not met within 10 minutes and never more than 16 minutes to respond. I can understand that they can track when she buzzed for help, but how do they know when she was responded to? There is no swipe key or anythign in the room to demonstrate that someoen responded at they time they claim. I guess they rely on some log that the uneducated, callous staff updates. Less than proof positive.

Insufficient staffing. Poorly educated staff with very few RNs or BSNs. Staff works short on evenings and holidays.

Response: Very difficult to get medical attention! Read your contract carefully. Won't supply reasonable Dr visits

Response: How about this one- after one week of employment at this place where 1 RN is
responsible for 43 patients and there is no
superviser to go to on off shifts. The aides for the most part do their best but to assign 1 person 43 patients should be illegal and I as one would rather be unemployed than work here. And the comments re:Carmen and all
of the management team stinks. They don't care if you need more than 6 days orientation before being left alone-that's how much they care about your family member. They are cold and heartless. Please go somewhere else.
