State of PA-please close this facility. No activities for those in rehab as described, rooms are dirty, tv's are broken and staff not of a professional caliber.

I currently have a family member at DEER MEADOWS and I have had the best experience! The care is wonderful, the management is always available to answer questions-and I got a lot of them since this is my first experience with this. The food is great and the residents are always busy doing something. Thanks for the great job you do!

My dad was at Deer Meadows rehab for his rehab. The nurses, aides, and therapy were professional and truly cared. He is doing great after his rehab. Thank you

Recently Deer Meadows CMS Rating was improved to a 4 star rating. Also, Deer Meadows DOES take Veterans Benefits and Long Term Care Insurance. I am not sure where this website is getting this information but it should be updated more frequently.

In the process of taking my mother out of deer meadows. Due to overall lack of professional attention. Currently she is suffering with bed sores and dehydration. Staff is friendly but not attentive to patients.

Response: Obviously you are the same person listed below who keeps posting comments. You must be hurting. Go get some help. You will feel better in the long run sweetie.

i had my parents there and they loved it!the food was great, plenty of activities, and the care was amazing. my parents were always clean, well groomed, and well fed. unfortunately they have since passed away. my mom and dad had the BEST years of their lives at Deer Meadows.
to the person who keeps writing those negative reviews, i feel bad that your dad passed away. its a pain no one can identify with until you go through it yourself. but i think its time ya move on and get some professional help. you'll feel better in the long run. stop dwelling on the past friend.
    Deer Meadows gets 5 stars!

Response: I'm glad for you your parents were treated well but don't tell me to move on unless you've been through what's family went through so save your comments for someone else. I will post what is true and it shouldn't matter to you it a review remember

I just recently had a family member at Deer Meadows and unfortunately they passed away. I was blessed to have Deer Meadows care for them. He received the most amazing care from a group of extremely talented people. God Bless You Deer Meadows!

I had both of my grandparents in the nursing home there at Deer Meadows and they received the very best care possible. The staff is caring, the environment is clean and comfortable, food was delicious, plenty of activities, and the residents seemed happy overall. There was never an unpleasant odor when walking through the building. I would trust them to care for another loved one if needed. Best place in Northeast Philly.

01/16/2013  -  An OurParents User Writes:

Going through some financial problems, and unfortunately for the residents and staff the cost cutting has had bad effects.. too many patients for limited staff. overall place is looking run down, and the Security is poor, since the cut the security in half. My mother has been here for 2 1/2 years, and the place has really changed since we placed her there. We have gone through all her money, so she is now a full Medicare resident, and they should be ashamed of the food served and the attention given to their residents. I would not reccommend leaving your loved ones here. Thankfully I am able to be there almost daily, so therefore Mom is taken care of and not left to fend for herself. I feel bad for the staff that have been there for years, and do care about the residents they care for, they are overworked and underpaid, and certainally not appreciated by the higher ups.

Response: THIS IS SO TRUE I WAS THERE AND SAW COLD RAW ROASTBEEF ON A HAMBURGAR ROLL WITH MIXED FRIUT THAT TASTED LIKE TIN-- AND WHEN I ASKED FOR SOMETHING ELSE ALL THEY HAD WAS COLD GRILLED CHEESE SANDWICH SO I WENT OUT AND BROUGH FOOD -SO WHEN THEY SAY RESTURANT STYLE IM NOT SURE WHAT RESTURANTS THEY HAVE BEEN TO

07/26/2012  -  An OurParents User Writes:

My husband was in Deer Meadows for rehab and I found it to be , well, horrible. This is directly from their webpage:Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served in our main dining rooms where the social atmosphere and delicious food make mealtime enjoyable for all.
Our five-week rotating, restaurant-style menus for independent living, personal care living and long-term health care residents ensures there is always a healthy variety to keep meals exciting and new.
Meals are prepared by our trained professionals, using only hand-selected produce, fresh herbs and spices and the freshest meat and seafood. "
The selections I've seen are take it or leave it. Breakfast is eggs or cereal, lunch some kind of inedible dish and dinner is sandwiches Not very good ones at that.
The equipment is being held together with chewing gum. Nurses and Asst's say they'll be right back with something and comeback either hours later or not at all When he was admitted the staff was more interested in how many toes he has then his medical needs. I am very grateful that he didn't need to be there that long. Trust me when I tell you if anyone in my family needs rehab or health care I WILL NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES be recommending Deer Meadows to them

Im writting this review for the next Family who may need to put a Loved one at DEER MEADOWS,when you first walk in it smells good ,looks clean, but after you pass the Front desk and go through the hallways you begin to smell just how dirty it is and the rooms are not kept clean I have personaly walked past rooms and the people in the rooms would be in darkness on a sunny day,it only takes a minute to open the blinds and let them see the sunshine or look outside I recently lost a Loved one who was at DEER MEADOWS the staff is good WHEN YOU ARE THERE other then that they are on the PHONE with personal calls or { M.I.A. } MISSING IN ACTION. I would go there to see my loved one upset because he would press the button for help and no one would come till they felt like it or they would move the phone where it could not be reached but when they would see family or company visiting they would walk by room or come in and check on my loved one PLEASE if you are going to place a loved one here go at different times you will be surprized at what you see and hear.Brenda F

Response: sorry for your loss but thank you for review

04/10/2012  -  An OurParents User Writes:

This place should be shut down . My Grandfather sadly passed away April 2, 2012 from Stage 4 bed sore dehydration amalnutrition and sepsis all of which stem from an overall lack of quality care and attention. There were several incidents were he was given the wrong medicine for his heart and he was even overdosed him to keep him sedated so the morning staff would not have to take care of him. When the staff could not get him to come around after heavily medicating him, my Grandfather was sent to Nazarth Hospital. While at Nazarth a nurse said to my family most of the patients that come from Deer Meadows have the same bed sore just not as bad and are malnourished. Please if you have a loved one this is not the place for them I wish that someone would have gave my family this information before he was sent there. Deer Meadows is simply filling their beds for profits. Oh and I had to chose one star bacause it wouldnt let me submit without. Jennifer H
