At first glance, Arden looks like the place you would want your love to spend his/her days; unfortunately, once there, you will quickly change your mind. One week after my father was there, he fell - something he never did in 85 years! But he was so drugged up, he could not walk anymore! He fell in the courtyard and was found sometime later. he was not taken to emergency although his face was so swollen, black and blue, I did not recognize him when I went to visit! I actually walked right by him and how to ask where he was! When I would take him off the grounds for a home visit, I was given the wrong medicine (more than once). I was given another patient's medicine and only knew because the nurse used the wrong name to say goodbye to him! Food was scare - there was never enough. Residents would fall and no aides were around to help; I would tell the nurse but she would say the aides were on break so the resident would have to wait!! Can you imagine?? There were evenings I would visit my father for 4 hours; we would sit in the dining area to use the tables; I would not see an assistant the entire time. Really a 'house of horrors!"
