horrible place to work and send your loved ones. Need to change their priorities and their broken inefficient system. Its the poor residents that have to suffer.

The facility has new management and new staff who really care about the residents. They have made some great improvements in the last 6 months. My mom is very well taken care of and I would recommend this place to others !! The Nurses are great and really care, and always there to answer family questions.

Please do not send your loved ones to this place. While there a some excellent and caring Nurses, CNA's and PT Staff the majority are absolutely horrific. Physical altercations between CNA's on the floor, constant complaining at the nurses station and absolutely no oversight done by the nurses means no one is taking care of your loved one. You should never go into your loved ones room, have them tell you some sort of medication was put on their leg, go the nurses station and they don't know what it is because the nurse that applied it didn't bother to chart it. Try to call management and all you hear are lies and a sob story about how everyone called out and they are doing their absolute best. Try better hiring practices, paying your workers a decent livable wage and actually staffing the place.

Response: My mother just stayed at Cortland Place for respite care while my husband and I went on vacation (she lives with us). I totally agree with you....they did NOT do 1 thing for my 92 year old mother. Said they would do laundry, make her bed, assist her getting to dining room.....did nothing! Both elevators were broken 1 day and people are allowed to randomly walk in and out of there with no accountability. Her room was going to for a permanent resident and they even moved stuff in while she was there. Never asked if ok....just barged in and began to move things for new resident. I called Cortland Place and demanded a partial refund. Also sent an e-mail with list of complaints and will continue to pursue this. Just not right to treat people like this.

I know the owners of this place through their family who dont talk to them anymore . They are both crooks and low lifes who will screw you in a minute!! The son braggs about how Medicare money for his new Ferarri and boat.

Response: Don't know the owners or anything about their personal possessions but do is sadly lacking. Security when entering the building is non-existent and anybody can simply walk in at any time. My mother was there for respite care and someone was going to be moving into her room. They actually allowed "strange" moving men into the room of a 92 year old with no notification or approval from my mother or staff. I'll be squawking loud, and bring it to every level to ensure other family members aren't subjected to such lousy care.

Place is a joke. Everything is a mess and they cant afford to hire staff making them short handed every shift of the day every shift of the week. The nursing staff is a group of unqualified and pathetic people who can barely speak English. It would be in your best interest to never step foot into this place. if you did you would be walking into a horror show of epic proportions. good thing the kitchen is shut off from the kitchen. because you would be seeing a bunch of bare shelf's. i hope you never have to step foot in this place of care

Response: I mother just spent 12 days there for respite care while my husband and I went on vacation. They promised us everything and all the best care but did not deliver. They didn't do her laundry, make her bed, assist her to dining, check on meds (I had them all set for her) but nobody checked to make sure she took them (she's 92). Elevators were broken 1 day and Bingo was the biggest activity. If you ever need to leave a loved one in assisted living, I'd highly recommend Waterman Lake. My mom stayed there last year and it was a 5* resort.....Cortland Place is barely a 1. Cost at Waterman Lake was also less. Check it out.....people there are awesome. Didn't stay there this time because no availability for respite care.

Had to rate 1 star overall because there is not a negative overall choice. This place is a joke. Does not implement safety steps to prevent accidents. They wait for accidents to happen and lie and try to cover them up. The administrator is a snake and does not do what is asked during his investigations into the problems. He tries to bypass family members and deal directly with the family member he thinks he can @#$%. If you love your family member don't send them to cortland place. Director of Nurses is a lier. They are the worse. After dealing with this place I wouldn't put my worse enemy here. Not worth a cent. Normand Ordino the owener needs to replace his administrator and Director of Nurses to start and work his way down to the rest of the staff that are incompetent in evaluating situations and preventing harm to the residents they claim they care about. Not impressed with their lies and deceitfulness.

Response: i agree with the 1 star rating and would give it a zero star if possible. Don't know about accidents but the care and service there is lousy. They promise you everything but don't deliver. My mother was there for 12 days of respite care and did not do one thing they "promised" laundry done, no bed making, no assistance to dining room (she's 92), no review of meds. They even allowed men to enter her room to deliver furniture for the next person taking over that room. Sorry but she paid for the space for 12 days and NOBODY should have been allowed in there without prior authorization. I'm not going to shut up until something is done. This place was outrageously expensive ($175/day) compared to Waterman Lake ($110) where everything was 5 star. My mother stayed there last year but no availability this year. Would highly recommend Waterman Lake.....they really care about people. Think it's outrageous that anybody can walk in the door and not sign in.....these people leave their doors unlocked so anybody can simply walk in. I'm going to contact Dept of Elderly Affairs......Social Worker in RI......and Channel 12 news to come and talk to residents. Something needs to be done to prevent this "abuse" of elders. Had to laugh when I was told they never had any complaints. Sent this website to look at what people have to say.

My grandfather was a resident there and he would tell me that he was not taken care of well. Certain CNA's have bad attiudes and treat otehr residents poorly

I worked at this facility for 6 months and it is awful. The director and owner don't care about anything except their budget. They never order enough supplies so they were always shorthanded of necessary things like soap, barrier cream, and briefs. They were constantly shortstaffed and the managers would refuse to stay and help. There are many quality facilities in the area, please do your loved one and yourself a favor and never go here. Check the RI department of health website for more information.

Response: A few years ago, before the change in administration, things were very different. The staff was able to give the much needed attention to the less independent residents. A few friends had their parents move there because of my praise. Alas, these same friends have now moved their elderly parents elsewhere. I deeply miss both my parents but am happy that they were in residence when the care was compassionate and the staff felt that they could give the extra attention without fear of fall out from administration. Cortland Place was once a good place to be for an elderly person.

Response: I wish I knew who you were so I could contact you and discuss the care at Cortland Place. My mother was just there for 12 days of respite care and I'm still furious at the care she received.. Nothing they promised was delivered. Pulling out all stops to get this information out to everyone so others won't have to go through this with a loved one.

I am one of those nurses who use to work there before. I was dedicated and had been there for a very longtime and HONESTLY, would have never EVER left if it wasn't for the poor judgement on the behalf of Administration. I mean the DNS and ADMINISTRATOR. I am not sure if the Audino's (father and son who own the company) REALLY know what is going on behind the scences. I do know for a FACT is that the Administrator keeps alot from them. MORE than he should. I do know the Audino family is a real caring and kind family and would be DEVASTATED to know what the DNS and Adminstrator are or rather aren't doing. Audino Sr started out caring for his Mom who fell ill and wanted to build a beautiful place for her and other elder people to retire to and enjoy. He then built a BEAUTIFUL EMPIRE hence Cortland Place. Some where along the lines the wrong Administration was formed and That My Friends Is Why I Left.

Response: i have to agree with you, i worked there for seven years

Response: The two Audinos are the biggest snakes of all!!! They screwed over their own family!! The family does not even talk to them any more..

I was surprisingly dissatisfied with the quality of care my family member had received last week. Since, I had my Mom and Uncle there this past winter and had been MORE THAN SATISFIED! The Nurse(s) that were supposingly in charge of the care, were never available to talk with me. When I did finally get to speak with them, nobody could answer any of my questions nor could they refer me to who could. It was either "I don't know" or "It's not my patient". Now, there is no longer a Social Worker on staff or working in the building for the residents or families to call upon for guidiance or assistance. So, I thought at least the Director of Nursing or Administrator could answer my long awaited questions and concerns. Well that turned out to be more dissappointing than the whole experience in itself. Enough said! NONE of my family members or any of the generations before them will EVER go to Cortland Place. What is so sad and unfortunate about this unforgetable experience is how Cortland Place use to be before last winter. Oh, and by the way where did all your Nurses go? All of the nurses that took care of my family left. That was why my family were honored to be able to go back there to be cared for by them. Where did they go? If anyone knows please respond to this comment.

Response: My family had the same of experience which will sadly never be forgotten.Where do you place your loved ones now a days where you can honestly say when you go home at night you can sleep knowing they are in the best care? If you find out where those nurses are, please write in a comment or email with it.

Response: All of the nurses left because the administration is so horrible. I was there for six months and at first I thought that we could turn it around. After six months of advocating for my residents I realized the administration does not care and never will and I left. I pray for the poor souls still living or working there. I've sent information to the department of health regarding the issues but so far nothing has been done..I apologize for your bad experience, the staff there do the best they can with the very limited resources available.

Response: I worked there when it was good. I have left there after getting hurt working and they fired me. All the staff leaves because they treat you horrible! You always work short, never get the extra pay they say your going to get. It is just not a great place to work for.
