My Mother passed away at Agape Senior due to the poor care given. Each time she needed an ambulance, they said it was something that could be handled at their facility, however, as it turned out, it wasn't, they didn't have the equipment nor the staff to handle her severe condition appropriately. They insisted on feeding her by mouth even though she was on a PEG feeding tube, therefore, giving her pneumonia due to food and liquid going into the lungs. What did they think the PEG feeding tube was for? They put the nurse call button out of reach, knowing she didn't have use of but one of her arms. When I would push the nurse call button (even for the lady in the next bed) the nurse or nursing assistant would come into the room and turn the light off, turn around and leave without asking what was needed. I hope when the time comes, I don't end up at Agape. The things I've seen at Agape are cruel in the way they treat the elderly when they think no one is watching. I've seen them handle the patients extremely roughly just giving them a bath. They left bruises and scratches all over my Mother and the lady in the bed next to her. I actually had to bandage the lady in the bed next to my Mother as she was bleeding after one of their baths. I could hear her hollering during the bath. They must hire the bottom of the barrel when it comes to help. I do know that if you file a complaint against a nurse or an assistant, they will tell you that they will fire that nurse or nursing assistant. I've since found out all they do is move them to another location. One evening as I was going to have some dinner outside of my Mother's room for a change, I asked the nurse on duty to please watch out for my Mother as she was having a rough time and was in a great deal of pain. When I returned, my Mother was barely breathing. I asked the nurse what she had given my Mother. She replied that she had given her something for pain in addition to something for nausea. My Mother was 78 years old with COPD. You don't give both of those medications together to an elderly person especially with breathing problems. I had to call an ambulance, she was barely alive. That nurse almost killed my Mother that evening. When I wrote her up and they questioned her as to why she had given my Mother the medications, her reply was that she was tired of hearing my Mother screaming out in pain. I wouldn't advise anyone to leave their dear, loved ones with Agape Senior for any type of care. They are irresponsible and uncaring people. They only care able the bottom line, the almighty dollar, not saving and taking care of human lives.
