We were extremely disappointed. We felt like they almost let our parent die. It was like the right hand did not know what the left hand was doing. I kept expressing the same concerns over and over again. They are not proactive to contact the patient's regular doctors and specialists who know the patient best. Our parent was assigned there for rehab and went downhill immediately. I do not feel that this place can be trusted. I feel like they have their own agenda and are out for the money rather than the best interest of the patient. Be very wary of this place!!!

Response: I agree. My mother made a rapid decline while in the care of this facility. We repeatedly expressed concerns about over sedation but there is no communication between the staff so our concerns went unaddressed. The referral process to another nursing home was poorly mismanaged as was her discharge. Her nursing care was substandard. Apparently the quality of care has not improved. There are excellent skilled nursing facilities in our region but Baysmont is not one of them. Do your research before the need arises as you cannot trust the recommendations of our local hospitals.

The CNAs, & most of the nursing staff are wonderful. BUT, BEWARE, there are a LOT of problems with equipment and the administration and head nursing staff. Egos are way too large. My mother's nebulizer stopped working, not once, but twice, and the staff did not notice that she'd been without oxygen for days. She was unresponsive and had her feet and hands had started turning purple. On another occasion, they refused to honor the hospital doctor's follow up appt. and meds. As a result, she had pneumonia and was taken back to the hospital. To make matters worse, now they want to "release" her, even though it was their fault she could not participate in PT. WATCH THEM CLOSELY!!!!

Response: I did not find that to be the case with my mother. The physical therapy was good. The nursing staff was right on top of my mother's needs; where other facilities they lacked to do so. They responded to all our requests in a timely fashion.

My father just passed away after spending nine months in Asbury Place Nursing Home in Kingsport. Honestly I could not have been more pleased and satisfied with Nursing Home care as I was with Asbury Place. I spent time with my Dad almost daily for the entire 9 months and I saw a lot of how the staff worked and interacted with the patients. I was actually shocked at times at how caring and professional the nurses and CNAs conducted themselves with everyone. I have had experience with other nursing homes in the area and I can say unequivocally that if I ever need the services of a nursing home again, Asbury Place will be at the top of my list of homes to consider.

The CNA's are very helpful. Most of the nurses are helpful and knowledgable. The ones that are not are a minus to people's health.
The Director of Nursing is argumentative and very rude. The physician is uncaring and doesn't spend time with the patients to even know what condition their health is in and what medicaiton they might need. Wrong medications have been given and discharging hospital orders ignored, which put patient's health in jeopardy.

Response: I agree 100%...I did an interview with the director of nursing and she was very cold and uncaring. Furthermore, unnecessary lab work is ordered on these patients every single day..this is a fact as I was the one that processed the insurance for the lab tests at a local hospital.

Response: AMEN. Please, everyone. Believe this. I wish I had read these reviews earlier. BUT, the hospital recommended Asbury and we were in a hurry to get my mother somewhere. BE CAUTIOUS!!
