Its a shame all you hear is the bad stuff.. No nursing home is perfect.. Brookhaven has some really good staff, and a caring/loving DON.. I would take my family there.. I left due to moved.. They are an older building but they are clean and do a good job in nursing..

Response: You have spoken the truth. On sites like this, you have to realize that some are disgruntled employees. ALL nursing homes have their problems. There is a very dedicated staff at Brookhaven that love their residents. There are not any nursing homes that are perfect. You are always going to have families that complain, complain, complain - to those, I say take your loved one elsewhere, and see how different it is.

Response: And you have to realise, some of these "good" replies are from employees scared to lose their easy- going "jobs". The place is not right, starting from the TOP.

I rated them as low as possible. If there was a zero rating they would deserve that. Drug diversion is rampant there. They allow gross understaffing that leaves residents at risk. They put new staff in a position of caring for residents with ABSOLUTLY NO TRAINING. The Director of Nursing said, "That's how we do it at Brookhaven." It is sad when those who lead a nursing home and are supposed to be caring for people in need, have so little concern for the elderly who are put in their charge.

I was a patient in May of 2012 for two weeks for therapy to learn to walk again after having a stroke and being in a coma back in March/ April 2012. I was abused by staff members. The only good treatment came from those teaching me to walk again. Residents were mean and staff members abusive. I was once left in my own bodily waste for 17 hours. I had pressure ulcers on my body from being in hospital. The waste infected my wounds and I was in more pain. I often complained, filed abuse reports, and the abuse worsened. I stood up to them often. Only to have them abuse me more. I am improving and my wounds are fast healing and I can walk again. They lie and get away with abuse. They should be closed down.

While some of the staff are exception, there are others who should not be in the profession. One case of 'abuse' was reported.
They get an A+ for the their physical therapy dept. Outstanding and really the only saving grace for this facility

Response: its a horrible facility and there staff are awful
