Having been an RN for 25 years and having worked in LTC facilities for the last 4 years, I have to say Bright Glade is the nicest I have worked in. It is clean and odor-free. There is low turn-over for CNA's and RN's. The CNA's are assigned to the same residents each day and know each resident and their needs and wants (sometimes better than the families themselves). They are attached to the residents as well.

NO resident is EVER strapped in bed. The majority of residents have body alarms if they are a fall risk. A few who are at HIGH rish of falling and need reminders to call for help are given self-release belts (similar to a seat belt). A very few have soft lap belts that have to be removed by staff. High fall risk residents are also in beds low the floor with cushioned floor mats.

We have a very low decubitus (bed sore) rate. Seldom do we have in-house acquired bed sores. Most bed sore residents have bed sores from hospital admissions. We take this very seriously.

The facility is an older facility with pink or yellow bathrooms but the rooms are clean with adequate overhead lighting and bathrooms in every room. Residents can decides for themselves whether to eat in their rooms or go to the dining room. Activites are offered on a consistent basis such as BINGO, baking, singers, pianists etc.

Residents are not allowed to stay in bed all day. Weekends are an exception if they REQUEST to stay in bed. We really encourage everyone to get up. We have an early shift that comes in to assist the night shift with getting residents up for breakfast every day. Most residents do go back to bed after lunch unless they have to return to physical, occupational or speech therapy. They are gotten up again for supper around 3pm.

Residents have showers 3 times per week and bed baths 4 times per week. Physical, Occupational and Speech therapy operates Monday through Friday.

The staff get along very well and though we are not a fancy place, we care very much for our residents and I am proud to say I work at Bright Glade Health and Rehabilitation Center.
