This is the best Assisted Living Facility in Alvin TX. The new owners are wonderful and very loving to the residents. My mother gets all the care she needs there and the place is beautiful.

The owner of the Talbott facilities has no buisness running these type of facilities. She has no regard for resident's rights and does not know or care what the residents actually want or need. She may have a mind for the financial side of her buisness but when it comes to the patients they are just a number unless it is her family. She is a very vindictive person and not only thinks she is a doctor, but seems to think she is god as well. All three of her facilities are very nice in appearance and do have some very good and caring employees. Norma, however is very big on threats and the better of an employee you are and try to please her the worse she treats you. If the families of these patients or the employees were aware of how she really feels or speaks about them she would have no patients or employees. She herself has told me that she talks to people terribly and has had people walk out on her because of the way she speaks to them. Also if your family member falls or is injured I would not expect a notification from her unless they have a visible injury because it is apparently up to her if the family is notified of a fall or incident. If for some reason she does not like a residents family member she will constantly threaten to kick that resident out. If she thinks you are talking about her in the community she will threaten you not to ruin her reputation or else, even though she does a good job of that herself. Don't expect your family member to have any choices even if they are their own power of attorney because SHE will start deciding everything for them including who can and cannot visit or call to check on them. I have never met Norma and came to visit a friend who was there and she met me at the door and kicked me off the property just because I was a friend of a former employee that she did not like and reported to the state for a possible drug diversion. The state came in and cleared my friend of any wrong doing. However, Norma maybe should have been looking at people she hires back that she has caught drinking and under the influence on the job that continue to work for her. She has made life miserable for the family member of this employee forbidding certain people from seeing her. She may own the property but she makes these decisions based on her own vendictive reasons with no interest as to what is best for the resident. This could be the case with any other family member that is put there. I know of several other families that have had terrible experiences not with the facility or direct caregivers but with Norma Talbot. This is supposed to be their home and will most likely be the last place they will be and they should be treated with respect, be able to make decisions, and allowed to see their family in the last years they may have. My friend will not even be allowed to see her grandma when she is passing away or she could be arrested. She prides herself on telling families and staff members off if she does not like them and I cannot even say on this site what she calls them. There is falsified documentation as well and staff are instructed not to give family members any information on their loves ones without clearing through Norma even though the family member may be the patients medical power of attorney. All in all the houses are nice but unless you want your loved ones medications and every move dictated by Norma, I don't think it is worth the hasstle of putting a family member there. I have been very cautions in what is said in this review and only wrote things that are factual. There is many more things I could say but will not.

Response: I agree with you I used to have a family member at one of her other buildings and Norma has issues. The house and the aids that work there are fine but I know that they were always complaining that they get into trouble for every little thing from Norma. I know one of the staff said that Norma watches them on the monitors and even if they go to the bathroom and she does not know where they are she will call and yell at them. I also agree that she is very vendictive and I hope she knows that what goes around comes around in this life. I know that I brought my family member some special food one time and I was told by the staff that Norma threw it away and said that the residents will eat what is on the menu or not at all.

Response: This Posting is from a disgruntled employee. Evening Shade Fired her after violating policy.

This is one of the best Assisted Living Facilities in Alvin. My mother has been there for years and I am very pleased with the way everyone treats her. She is loved, cared for, and treated with nothing but kindness. The place is extremely clean inside and doesn't feel institutional like. It is very warm and pleasant.

The Talbot's homes are all managed with love, care and the best quality in this area.

Response: Then you woke up and realized this is the worst facility in
Alvin. They are currently under 10-15 violations with State facility

Response: I still work at one of her buildings but evening shade has really gone down hill since Norma fired their last manager. Now it is just chaos and you can't express how you feel or you will be fired for that too. She fires the ones that work the hardest for her but then re-hires the ones that have alcohol/ sub. abuse problems and come to work hungover or the ones who sleep at work. Go figure
