This is an amazing home! Best in town for sure! My grandmother lives here and has been taken care of beyond anything I can imagine. The staff treats her and us like family. Childers Place is unlike any nursing home you will step into. So happy that Amarillo has such a great place for the elderly

Looking for a job, the pay is on the down side. Support of staff no such thing, that is if your a caregiver. Lord knows they can't keep help. Take a walk in the evening your lucky if you see two aides working on the fuller side of the center. Most evenings it's only one. That is alot to ask of one person. This facillity is for private pay, in other words it is not cheap to live there. Most of these residents come from the privilaged life style. I for one would expect 24hrs around the clock best of care. Tell me how long someone waits if there are four residents that go to bed at seven sharp. It takes at least 15-20 if not longer depending on the care needed to help someone to bed. Eat a meal with your family member judge for yourself if its good. The place is beautiful and has many things to offer but they don't. Instead the building sit more than half empty. Why???? Why does a place that is supposed to be a high end place have such a high turn over rate. Ask them how people have come and gone in just the short period they have been open??? Perhaps it would not hurt for the board members to take a very good look. That is into the whole staffing and keeping the staff in the caregiving department. Then again it could just be the whole Bivins Foundation. I really don't think this was what she had in mind.
