My mother was there for almost two years before she died. She always said she was well-cared for and was very fond of many staff members. However, the food has become terrible. It was much better when she arrived two years ago.

07/16/2012  -  An OurParents User Writes:

Do NOT go to this place for rehabilitation. The physical therapy room has limited capabilities. The food is disgusting, all carbohydrates with no fresh fruit or vegetables, all mushy piles of unidentifiable goop. The staff points fingers at everyone else when something goes wrong. There are no showers in the room. You are given a shower schedule which is twice a week, three times if you complain. I couldn't get my pain medication on time. The beds and nurse call device are ancient equipment. You press the button, someone comes into the room to determine what you need, then go get the person who can fulfill your request who then comes into the room and most of the time they leave the room to go get something and come back. This whole process could take as much as 1 hour (I timed it). The sheets do not fit the bed. I got a heat rash from sleeping on a plastic mattress most of the time. Avoid this facility at all costs!

Response: Most of these complaints are true. The food and sheets are
Non-sense. The first manager, Kim, was the best they have
Ever had. At any nursing facilty, someone needs to be there to
Babysit your loved one to be sure they are properly cared for.
A plus, the facility never had any odor & was clean.

This review would be rated with all 5 stars if the administrative staff were more flexable with rules and with a more willing, helpful, and compassionate attitude in the therapy dept.
Facility is always clean, (never a nursing home odor) and fast to respond to your needs; nurses and aides are so sweet and caring.

My mother was placed in this facility for a reason so that she would be in a safe and secure environment and wouldn't be harmed or cause harm to someone else and unable to live alone in the country which is in the middle of nowhere without a car, phone or money. I'm an only child and I was working in San Antonio so I couldn't care for her because she really needed supervised care and she wouldn't listen to me and only wanted to fight with me. So I placed her a Cibolo Creek to be closer to me but the Social Worker (Karen) @ Cibolo Creek has conveniently went behind my back and had my mother Revoke my Power of Attorney and to their convenience made it possible for my mother to leave the facility and move closer to the country where she was living and 140 miles away from me and get Medicaid to start the process of allowing her to return home without any of my concerns or worries. So be very careful if you want a parent or relative to live there because they will work against you to allow them to leave and go back home. I have never heard of a facility assisting a resident leave but to help the family keep the resident there. Also, they never take any of the mobile residents out of the facility of escursions.

Response: Cibolo Creek is a very new very pretty facility, HOWEVER, pretty is not everything, once you get past that glitz you find a very cold, uncaring environment. They have staff that do not know 1+1 =2, The administrator is all talk, she has the mentality of a Barbie Doll, she is there for show, the business is run by the the business of manager, She brought all her staff from another facility. There have been residents admitted there that have died after short stays because of the stupidity of the staff, one standing there watching a woman die that was a FULL CODE, mean perform CPR idiot. There are 3 other facilities in town, that are not as pretty, but rated higher, gives suberb care, they have knowledgeable staff, and really care about the residents. I have my family memeber in one of those facilities, and they have thrive, gone from a recluse to a person that enjoys life again. IF YOU LOVE YOUR LOVED ONE DO NO PUT THEM AT CIBOLO CREEK IN BOERNE TEXAS! Very cold, un educated staff, bad administration, for sure they need some help. Stay away if your loved one needs care.

Response: I moved my family memeber from one facility in Boerne to Cibolo Creek, with in weeks she fell, recieved numerous fractures, and eventually passed away. I was later told that my family memeber had fallen and not found for hours, then the staff just put her back to bed. The facility my family memeber was in previous was not as glamerous, however, there were never issues, falls, or neglect. When the administrator was approached, it was like talking to a 10 year old. We have formed a group of family memebers that have had problems with facilities, the concensus is Cibolo Creek is pretty, but very ugly care.

Response: The second response: The State commended the S/W for doing the right thing and taking the time and energy to see that the right thing was done for the resident.

Response: The third response is not even worth responding to and whoever wrote obviousy sour grapes once again. None of the information given is even remotely close to the truth? This person who wrote this response obviously knows nothing about the administrator or the staff or information about patients. This same administrator ran a successful home for 15 years & now opened a new home last December that is doing extremely well. Cibolo Creek was awarded "Best of the Best" Nursing & Rehab Centers this year in Boerne..peoples choice awards by the Boerne Star Newspaper. I wonder how that happened?? Maybe because they are exceptional and residents who live there & patients that have had rehabilitation & gone home were very happy with their stay...This "Barbie Doll" hasn't been successful all these years for nothing? Maybe the person who wrote this needs to do their homework prior to writing ridiculous accusations with not even one line of truth to any of the response given. Obviously, this so called barbie doll had a very loyal following of the best & brightest employees...this says alot about her character overall! Lastly, I give very little credibility to this web site overall if they print ignorant responses such as the ones expressed that have no credible sources to back any of the false information given.

Response: The details on this web site with respect to this center are not even how is a reader to find credibility in anything that is written on this site?

This center has the highest rating in Boerne on the most credible site which is the one under the Texas Department of Aging & Disability who oversee all centers including Cibolo Creek. Maybe people looking for a home should go to this web site or better yet, go tour the centers and I assure you, there will be no doubt as to which center they would want their loved one to live in.

Response: I will have to send these responses to the administrator referred to above...I believe she would be flattered to hear that she is tall, skinny, blond, with big lips...woman pay big bucks to cosmetic surgeons to get those lips! LOL & I would give anything to look like a barbie doll...& a very smart one at that..Ken would be so proud! LOL

Response: Who ever is responding, obviously is either the administrator who is beating her own drum, why, because no one else will. And the facility is NOT rated the highest in town the facility right down the road from them is. Imagine that. No one is sour here except the person responding, These are plain and simple facts, the Barbie brought everyone of her incompentent staff with her, so heck why would Cibolo succeed, the same dummies are there. Now lets grow up and respond with some dignity, if some one does not like your facility, just suck it up, your not the best of the best, how funny, the receptionist is married to the person at the Boerne Star that put that title on you, and your administrator went out and bought every single newspaper that was to be bought and had her staff vote, HEHE, don't think that is fair.

Response: The foregoing response is neither kind, mature or professional. I think anyone reading it would see it has no merit whatsoever. My mother is a resident there and I know these people by what I have oberved myself. The accusations are so far out there, they are almost laughable. Come on - grow up!
