This is the WORST place to put a loved one. Substandard everything. The med nurse actually was stealing my mothers medicine and no action was taken. Incompetent staff, surly staff that seemed bothered to have to take care Of the residences. Only a few staff members speak very good English and have such a negative attitude about each other and their supervisors. I would not advise you even to consider the facilities, and it is not cheap...over $6000 a month for skilled nursing. Please do not consider this place!!!

While the rest of CCY has a great reputation, the Memory Care unit has alot of problems due mostly to lack of supervision. The community is expanding it luxury care capacity and is having financial difficulties. There hasn't been a fulltime director of the Cove unit for over a year and therefore, the care given by the aids is the bare minimum. I will be moving my family member as soon as I can identify another placement. I would not recommend this part of the CCY.

I kept track of when my grandfather's medicine should run out and it constantly ran out prior to when it should have. They failed to turn in forms necessary for him to receive veterans benefits! And they failed to mention that when they kicked my grandmother of medicare we were allowed a repeal!
We paid them to take care of my grandparents and we were hassled every day with phone calls (and by every day, I do mean every day) with what they failed to mention one of my grandparents needed! The nurses fail to read their patients charts and continued to call asking if we wanted a particular thing meaning we had to explain to them 3 times that no we did not want that.

Response: Did you find a facility you like better and are pleased with to move them to?

In addition, some nursing homes offer specialized care programs for Alzheimer's or other illnesses, or short-term respite care for frail or disabled persons when a family member requires a rest from providing care in the home. Please note that you can help compare nursing homes by looking at the Medicare ratings of a given facility (Medicare has a 5-star rating system for comparing nursing homes). There are various ways for paying for care in a nursing home. Make sure you know your loved one's Medicare and Medicaid eligibility, and understand how you can use tools like long term care insurance to pay for nursing home care.
