Recently transfered my mother there. Horrible experience ever. She is elderly and has Alzheimer's. The place was consistently chaotic. The staff do not help each other and just stare at you when you ask questions. They made no attempt to understand and manage my mothers care. No one tried to consider what she was going through as a patient with dementia having to change facilities. They only saw here's a problem they did not want to deal with. After 5 day they told us she needed to leave. The director handed me a list of facilities to make cold calls on my own. We felt pressured to make a decision we did not agree with. We were new to the area and did not know where to turn so we complied. Personally we felt they just wanted to dump her on someone else's doorstep. They did not manage her care at all. Very disappointing as we loved the Cantex facility we had transfered her from and expected the same level of care and professionalism we had before. She was not looked at as a patient but rather a nuisance to be removed.

My mother is currently at The Harrison for temporary rehabilitative care after surgery. The whole experience has been traumatic for her because the care is incredibly bad.

If she needs a drink of water or to go to the restroom, it takes hours for someone to respond to her. That is unconscionable. Someone in our family has to be with her at all times to ensure that her basic needs are met.

It makes me sick for all of the people who are there on a permanent basis.

The facility is critically understaffed. This place is a nightmare. You do not want your loved one here. I can't wait to get my mom out of there.

Response: With a such a beautiful building, comes great responsibility. When we have identified issues to Brenda Wright, she has had them corrected or followed up on immediately. We have noticed the same DON has been there since January 2015, when we placed my Aunt there. It is unfortunate that some feel they don't treat patients well, however the staff here know their patients in and out. They have activities for every one and various programs that help keep the residents stimulated.

Very sad that such a beautiful building and location provides such horrible care. Brenda Wright the head of the facility is uncaring, she shouldn't be in this business. I went to her several times and each time nothing was addressed. I heard staff talk about her frequently. If staff is treated poorly then they probably won't treat patients well either. The head of nursing keeps changing, no one knows who is in charge. I took my mother home as soon as I could get everything set up at home, I hope the hospitals know what type of facility they are referring people to. Don't be deceived by looks.

Response: I have exactly the opposite experience at The Harrison! Most days I arrive at the same time Ms Wright does...8:00am and I find it amazing that she knows about my husband; not just clinical things but personal things too. I have done this type of work previously and I thin all in all The Harrison does an admiral job. Are they perfect, no way but I honestly do not believe any place is really. I find the staff to be caring and willing to do anything I ask.

Response: Really!!!and you let your mother stay for 6 weeks!!! If it was so bad you would think you would have relocated her.hmmmm.......

This is by far one of the worst facilities for patient care. My mother was there for about 6 weeks and had the worst nursing care from the nurses and the techs. On numerous occasions she was ordered to "stay" in her room and not bother the staff during the night. The wound care nurses were rude and lazy when it came to changing out or emptying her ileostomy bag. She was forced to sit in a wheel chair for hours on end because they didn't have time to change out the sheets when she soiled them. On several occasions I had to personally go and demand that they change out her bag due to placing it inside the wound instead of around it. On a particular day I personally asked her nurse to redress the wound since feces was seeping into the wound, this was at 10:30 by 8:30 pm she still had not done a thing about it until I went there and did it myself. I complained numerous times to the director and she is rude, and unprofessional, I complained to the nursing director about why she was not being bathed, she promised me she would be bathed every other day at 10:00 am but she still went for weeks without a bath. There is no use complaining about the attitude of the staff since there is no one that cares. They are understaffed and over capacity with patients who don't get treated. On her discharge Debbie had a week to set up home health but sat on her hands and did NOTHING to set things up. I wouldn't take my dog to this place much less my mother, be warned!

My mother has been at The Harrison twice, 1 1/2 yrs ago and again this year. I am thankful that she receives great care from Rehab and the nursing staff too. Is it perfect? No but neither was her hospital stay for that matter. Honestly in reading through the most recent reviews I wonder if you have stepped foot into some other nursing homes. I have...not once or twice but several times to research care for my mother! If the need should arise again after this stay I would not hesitate returning. Let me add the I have found the Administrator to be delightful, always out on the halls and I personally enjoy seeing her interaction with my mom in the dining room.

My grandmother has been there for nearly 3 weeks. The therapist team is good, and Dr. Hernandez is wonderful. However, the majority of patient care is provided by LVN's and CNA's, and that care is awful! I've spent hours each day up there, and witnessed the lack of concern for the residents. I cannot believe how poorly cared for the patients are, and cannot wait for Grandma to be discharged.

11/18/2014  -  An OurParents User Writes:

The building is nice but that is the only good thing about this place. When you need someone it takes them forever to come in the room. We have to go there everyday just to make sure the family member is being taken care of. For the money you pay you would expect a lot better care. I feel really bad for people bedridden with no family. Who knows how long they go without drinks or sit in dirty pants!!

10/31/2014  -  An OurParents User Writes:

Beautiful building compared to other nursing homes but the care is subpar. The Executive Director is hateful if you complain you are targeted and then discharged. I would not recommend this place, do not be fooled by the outward appearance.

08/21/2014  -  An OurParents User Writes:

Expected more, the physician was great and very responsive to all my dads needs. The overall facility was disappointing, a lack of empathy exists, facility is dirty, customer service is poor. We kept my dad there for 2 weeks because the Dr was so attentive, but would not return with the lack of care.

The Executive Director is rude and uncaring, the DON is not knowledgable of the patients and their clinical conditions. My mom was there a short time in June 2014 before I just took her home, I'm an RN myself and was appalled at the care that was being delivered. I would not recommend to anyone

Disappointed with our second stay.... There has been a change in management and you can tell the care has suffered. The staff is not happy along with the patients.

We had a very good experience, the nurses, CNAs, and therapy staff were awesome with my mother. The interdisciplinary team, Veronica, Lyndsey, and Brandy were very involved and coordinated my mothers care. You can tell the facility managed very well. The only issue we had is with the marketer and her assistant, Laurie and Gloria they didn't seem to know much, but I'm sure the facility sells itself. We will differently recommend and come back if ever needed

Great facility, my dad was just diagnosed with cancer, the staff there has been amazing, the Director of Nursing, Brandy has been great, I can't say enough about her, she gave me her cell phone number and I text or call her with any questions, she is available 24 hours a day and answers my questions immediately. You can tell her staff is well trained and like they say it trickles down from the top. Great facility

My mother is high acuity, we almost lost her. She came in with a trach and a gtube and both have been removed at the Harrison. She is doing great. She is there on an insurance stay and because of her clinical issues she was not progressing as fast as insurance wanted her to, insurance tried to discharge her. The Nurse manager was my moms advocate she called the dr and they both spoke with insurance and had her stay extended. I can't thank her enough, mom is finally getting to the point where we might be able to take care of her at home but if not she will be staying long term at The Harrison. Prior to coming to The Harrison we were at two other near by facilities both had sub par care and did not have the staff with the knowledge to take care of my mom with all her issues. Best choice we ever made. If I ever do have questions I have the nurse managers cell phone number and I can call her anytime, she is so helpful.

My mother was at The Carlyle earlier this year, back in October of 2013 she required a rehab stay and The Harrison was recommended, we were very skeptical because of our stay at The Carlyle and both these facilities are owned by the same company. My mother is very demanding and I was taken back by how the staff at the Harrison handled her every need, she didn't want to leave and agreed to a couple more weeks of rehab, we are now back for our second stay and again they are doing a great job. I am a retired nurse myself and I see the good care being provided. The DON meets with my mom daily so they can discuss her medication since my mother insists on administering her own medications. I have had such a great experience, it's amazing how different two facilities can be run and the difference the outcomes provide. It's clearly directly impacted on how the in house management runs the facility and Brandy the DON makes all the difference.

Wonderful experience, this facility will take away all the typical nursing home stories, I had great nurses Laura and Tiffany on 200 hall were great, the don was very helpful and helped guide my mother and our family through this process. I was having a night of guilt and anxiety and the DON called and talked to me at 9pm on a Friday night, will recommend to everyone

I would recommend The Harrison at Heritage!!! It was the first time that my mother needed to utilize a facility like this for my family. I was completely lost. I took some advice from some friends of mine. They all recommended the Harrison. Not only for their services for the Elderly, but for family members recovering and rehabbing from major surgeries. During my mothers stay there, I noticed people staying there of all ages from 20 through I would guess 100. The office staff was incredibly helpful, like I said I was completely lost, and they pretty much walked me through the whole process. I was a little overwhelmed to say the least and couldn't have done this without there help. As to the daily care of my mother, my mom has never been the easiest person to please, she is a firecracker to say the least. I am impressed with how professional the Nursing staff is and how well the have handled my at times demanding mother. I have had friends who are nurses, and like I said before some who have already placed family members in long termed care, and the common complaint is family members never seem to believe their loved ones are getting the best care, nothing is ever good enough. I do understand that nursing is a thankless calling and also believe that my mother deserves nothing but the best, and I have found that at The Harrison At Heritage.

Response: Ditto to the problems menitioned about the office staff. Beautiful on the surface. Promises but no action after you move your love one in. Then its too late. The office staff wont look the family in the eye in meetings or in passing. After my love one had been at the Harrison for about a week. The staff called a family meeting. First and only words out of her mouth was. "What is your discharge plan?" I was put back by this since I had no idea what she was talking about. I asked for an explaination for her question and received no response. I dont know why people like this work in this business if they dont like people.

Response: This did not happen...I would not EVER do this. I am in the business to help people.

My sister and I waited over an hour to meet with the sales person - we had an appointment...and when we were greeted - another staff person greeted us as if we were at a funeral...ends up the sales person was totally incompetent and misleading regarding the placement of my mother...Gloria (sales person) promised me that my mom would get into the Harrison at Heritage and then changed her tune, when she realized my mom would need to get Medicaid down the road. It was their idea for my mom to get Medicaid in the future and they said they would help me fill out paper work and file the forms. First she and her co-worker Loop-ee said one thing and then did another...turned their backs on helping me. Gloria did not return my phone calls - did not apologize - did nothing to help me after saying she would...makes you wonder how well they take care of their patients?! Beautiful facility lousy sales staff and upper management -- why is Gloria still there...she is a terrible representation for the Cantex Corporation. When I spoke to upper management at Cantex they were complacent and uncaring.

Response: NOT...accurate information at all....... we do assist our patients and families with the Medicaid process.

09/23/2013  -  An OurParents User Writes:

If I could give them a ZERO.. I would. They do not help their patients.... the ones who have broken hips & arms. The allow the ones who cannot situp by themselves... they igore and stand around at the nurses station. How would they like it if it was their relative, Parent, Grandparent.

Entire Staff should fired and hire new ones that work. When I was there with my parent... we decided to buzz for help while in bed and on the potty.... it took the staff over 15 mins to arrive to help us.... Glad I was there... or my parent would have suffered.

Response: Our nurses wear burgundy....( not white).

09/11/2013  -  An OurParents User Writes:

Only 1 person on staff really cares to help patients. That is Sheila the tech. The clinical nurse when in my Mother's room turned her back on us when we were mentioning that no one would come help my Mother go to the bathroom. That Nurse in white coat should be fired.

I toured this nursing home and it was beautiful. However, I was very taken back by the receptionist. She was very rude to me! I tried to talk to her about the nursing home but she would bearly speak or look at me. It was on a week day around 10a and I am sure it is busy, but REALLY! If the recptionist does not have time for you then the people who really matter won't either.
