Briarcliff wouldn't let me see my dad for last two months of his life, because court assigned guardian was his ex-girlfriend who I found out recently never had like me. The last time i tried to visit Dad, weekend nurse, Dee, made me visit in common area & followed me around griping & got in my face yelling at me, saying "I'm sorry-I have to do what guardian says & you needed to leave. " When Dad was dying and in coma-like state, I was able to see him the entire week, only because the hospice people told NH I was entitled to see him. When the weekend nurse came around, as my dad was dying, the same head weekend nurse from before, tried to kick me out again! She yelling & talking very rudely. When she found out I could be there, Dee said in her loud harsh voice, "Well, I'm sorry but I have to do what the guardian says!" This is an absolutely horrible facility. I'm executor of Dad's will now and they want me to pay final $1400 bill. Hmmmm

Someone help this staff.... Every time I have been to Briarcliff I have been able to walk right in the door past the lady at front desk because her phone call was more important I guess and up to middle station.. When I do get to the station I have to stand there and ask who is in charge or who to talk to about my concern, every one just stares at me and gives me looks as if they are to busy to ask "can I help you"... The employees did not look like they enjoyed their job and was not glad to be there.. I spoke with one employee and he/she went on to explain that half the staff was looking for other jobs because of the way management has and was treating them... There is no room for advancement, from what I heard the employees are not appreciated, not paid well, and taken advantage of on a daily basis. Its no wonder every one was in such a bad mood when such a sloppy un caring upper staff is running the place.. I think some one should really look into this place. I would not work there and surly would never put one of my family members there... Briarcliff gives all nursing homes a very bad name.....

This is the worst nursing home I have ever been in with a family member and I have been in them all. The cleaning staff try hard to keep it clean but it is impossible with an older not updated building. The nursing staff seems to know what they are doing and they are always available for help but a management person is never to be found when needed. When there is an issue with care being provided this person with wild hair always seems to be at the fore front trying to solve it but she doesn't seem to know anything about nursing or management. She seems to want to try to take over everyone elses jobs. I am not sure what that is about. The lack of communication and the right hand not knowing what the left hand is doing seems to be a real problem also. I would talk to the nursing staff where my family member was, then I would take to that unit manager and felt like my issues were being taken care of then from out of the blue I would get a phone call or visit from a "upper management" person and want to know what the issue was and how to resolve it. I told them it was taken care of already by the persons I had spoke with. This did not seem to set well with whomever I was speaking with. The FOOD is horrible in taste, appearance, quantity and quality. They have had several deficiencies from the state on their food services. The kitchen is digusting and poorly maintained. It seems to me as an onlooker that whomever the head person is out there is more concerned with the dollar they make then the dollar the person pays to get quality care. When my family member has to do this again we will be going to Legends Nursing Home.

Response: Whomever this person is has not been in all the nursing homes. Briarcliff is very clean and a great place. I have seen places that could never measure up to the cleanliness, great staff or anything else for that matter.

Response: Whomever wrote the response, if you would step out of your office for long enough to open your eyes you would see what a poor and sad place you are working at....

My father is to have thick drinks only NO liquids & he was given regular liquids anyway for 3 days until my stepmother happened to be present to remind them of this important factor! My father arrived at your facility on Fri. 5-25-12. My father was found in feces & urine on Sunday morning 5-27-12 even his bed was soaked&soiled! On 5-29-12 my father was eating his pureed diet and as he put a mouthful of mashed potatoes in his mouth he spit out a piece of chicken bone while the nurse-aid, Jessica was with us! I gave the chicken bone to Bill, the Administrator, it was about an inch long! I made a formal complaint of these occurrences today at his office! Signed, Sylvia, Mariano Puente's daughter.
