Rambling Oaks Courtyard Extended Care Community in Highland Village, TX took care of my mother the last few years of her life. She had Alzheimer’s and was confined to a wheelchair the entire time. She required a lot of resources and yet everyone treated her like a member of their family. The home was always clean and Mom was always well cared for. They work hard at communication and kept me informed of every change in her condition. There seems to be a real family atmosphere there that not only makes the residents comfortable, but keeps the staff happy to work there. It is a rare combination in this business and I was so grateful to have found them for my Mom.

I literally signed the papers to place my mom here temporarily-since it was recommended by other church members- and while enroute to the hospital to assist with my mom's transfer, the Director telephoned the hospital to tell THEM they were not going to accept my mom since she required a heart healthy diet and they DIDN'T OFFER ONE! I recognized one of the CNAs who used to "work" at nearly cross timbers rehab--and can only imagine that she told the director that I wasn't just going to dump my mom there- as other children do, but was "hands on" with monitoring her care. This is yet another "pretty front" where the CNAs do not have a command of English, they work simultaneously in multiple facilities because they are paid so poorly. Consequently, there is very little nursing going on. The PT room at this place was literally just one exercise bed! Scary! Now I look for faith based facilities.

After working at this facility I was appalled at the lack of concern for the residents well beings by the Administrator. Contagious infections requiring isolation were spreading among the residents and the management staff were alerted by nursing staff of the need for action and change and their concerns were met with retaliation. Not only were the managements attitude neglectful, but they were also rude and insensitive to patients and their family's. Even when the administrator was told of family complaints and ill treatment of the residents , the administrator refused to believe them. I would not put my family here. The residents are scared to complain about the staff to management, yet they do complain about their treatment and care to the nursing staff. There is a great divide between management and the staff and the patient's are the one's who suffer. I know first hand why this facility's ratings have dropped from a 5 to 2 star.

I toured this facility 2/14/12 and was impressed with the clean, well furnished, modern facility and the friendly staff. Residents seemed to be happy and well cared for. There was a sense of warmth throughout.
