I am extremely worried about the health of my mother at this nursing home. Today an outside contracting nurse had to come in and put a large IV (mid line) in her arm to give her antibiotics 3 times a day for 7 days. She has a very bad urinary tract infection and obviously has had it since I mentioned to the nurse a week ago that my mom feels like she has a bladder infection. When I asked tonight when would they be starting her antibiotics I was told they were ordered Friday but they were not in and would be Sunday before they will start them. Urosepsis is how elderly die at nursing homes. Don't know what to do. Feel helpless. Think twice before putting your loved one here. Director of Nursing very unpleasant person and uncaring. Am so disappointed with this center.

The more involved you become the more rules are instilled upon you. That is a shame. But that doesn't slow down the love and care a family member has or their involvement. It only encourages it and reiterates the need. There is a definite lack of professionalism in parts of the management structure and a high turnover. Things move slowly and only seem to get done when issues are repetitively reminded and sometimes not even then. The answers given seem to be based on what the individual believes you want to hear rather than factual information. There does not appear to be any sense of urgency or follow through in any facet at Bayou Pines Care Center. With the exception of a few hard workers that keep fighting the daily battle.

Response: Oh my gosh. This is exactly what I am experiencing with my mother at Bayou Pines. The Director of Nursing is uncaring and irresponsible. The Assistant Director of Nursing could care less. I am an RN that worked in an emergency room and intensive care for 19 years and I feel helpless. You are right. The more involved you try to be with your loved one the more disdane the management and workers have for you and instill more rules. You nailed it with your review.

The quality of care is unacceptable. There is lack of communication, lack of professionalism, and lack of qualified staff. I would not recommend this "skilled nursing home" to anyone!
