Both my in-laws have lived at Christian Care. We used all levels of care. Professional, caring staff. Also have known many residents that received their refund for their Apartment, no problem. Christian Care honors their word and their contracts.

My dad almost died from neglect at CCC Mesquite nursing home. Dehydration, multiple infections.
Worst of all, we discovered a putrid pus-filled 2" open pressure wound that was deeply infected and required surgical treatment.
CCC staff and leaders were totally inhumane towards the patient and my family after we discovered their dishonest and criminal behavior.
Outrageous disregard for patient care and human suffering.

my mother recently transferred there from the hospital. this place is far from our expectations. The room they put her in (she was there for rehab post surgery)was depressing. no place to sit except for a folding chair. the bed was hard and uncomfortable she said. The bathroom...if you could call it that was a shared toilet room that smelled of urine and filtered out into her room. The nurses left the door open every time they left her room. During the very short time she was there, 3 different people wandered into her room and just stood there, until the nurse made them leave. We finally determined that they put her in the convalescent quarters because they didn't have a more suitable room available, but did not mention it prior to our arrival. I would not recommend this place, at least not for someone I love.

As the commercial for Seraquel says, it leads to increased risk of death for dementia patients. Christian Care Center Dr. says that a huge number of dementia patients in Christian Care Center are on Seraquel and he recommends it and they try to twist your arm to sign for it. Is this incompetence or is it that they don't care?

    Response: Seroquel Oral Warnings
There may be a slightly increased risk of serious, possibly fatal side effects (such as stroke, heart failure) when this medication is used in elderly patients with dementia. This medication is not approved for the treatment of dementia-related behavior problems. Discuss the risks and benefits of this medication, as well as other effective and possibly safer treatments for dementia-related behavior problems, with the doctor.

Please do not take your parent here if you care about them. Maybe Pearce in Dallas can do something better for them.

09/10/2010  -  An OurParents User Writes:

Therapists are fine, nursing stinks, nurses don't care and have an attitude.

07/22/2010  -  An OurParents User Writes:

Quality of Care was lacking due to:
    1. Hospital discharge medication list was not put into place upon admission to this facility. There were three medications given for one month, with incorrect dosages, and one medication was never given at all for the entire month that my mother was at this facility! Three of these medication errors were with her heart medications, and my mother had been admitted for rehabilitation due to chronic heart failure.
    2. Inadequate monitoring of fluid restrictions.
    3. Slow response to provide requested services and/or necessary items, such as special stockings prescribed for swollen ankles.

Response: And tis place is called "Christian Care Center" sounds not Christian to me.

Christian Care Center is a nursing home. It provides medical nursing service for seniors with serious illnesses or disabilities twenty-four hours a day, delivered by registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, and certified nurse aids.

Nursing care facilities cater to several types of patients: some patients require short-term rehab while recovering from surgery; others require long-term nursing and medical supervision. In addition, some nursing homes offer specialized care programs for Alzheimer's or other illnesses, or short-term respite care for frail or disabled persons when a family member requires a rest from providing care in the home. Please note that you can help compare nursing homes by looking at the Medicare ratings of a given facility (Medicare has a 5-star rating system for comparing nursing homes). There are various ways for paying for care in a nursing home. Make sure you know your loved one's Medicare and Medicaid eligibility, and understand how you can use tools like long term care insurance to pay for nursing home care.

Also, Christian Care Center is an assisted living facility. Assisted living facilities are an apartment-style habitat designed to focus on providing assistance with daily living activities. They provide a higher level of service for the elderly which can include preparing meals, housekeeping, medication assistance, laundry, and also do regular check-in's on the residents. Basically, they are designed to bridge the gap between independent living and nursing home facilities. When thinking about how to pay for care, assisted living facilities are generally less expensive than nursing homes, if assisted living is a viable option for your loved one.

Also, Christian Care Center is a Senior Community. Senior communities are for seniors who can take care of themselves. It is often a set of apartments in a variety of sizes from studios to large two bedrooms, where seniors live independently, but may receive additional services like transportation, pools, a convenience store, bank, barber/beauty shop, resident laundry, housekeeping, and security, are all services and amenities that may be provided there.
