DON is new and awful, I'm transferring my mom out of this place before something happens to her, I brought these issues to the DON and he did not address or even seem concerned

Response: so sad in this age of older people that they hire staff who don't care and show love to the residents, one day the staff or their family may be in need of care. these places are so disgusting, why can't something be done

Mother seems very happy with Emerald Hills. She is confined to a wheel chair and is 95 years old.

I myself would not recommend this hellhole to my worst enemy , for starts the staff including the directors are about as ignorant and uneducated as anyone Ive ever met. My father in law was in there a week ago today three days in he still had not been evaluated. I sat up there one day for almost seven hours and he was only seen once the whole time and as a result of the negligence he is in ICU at baylor grapevine with a head contusion thats has grown even larger than was expected from falling in the middle of the night and left there for almost two hours before anyone even realized what has happend and come to find out they gave him a higher dose of Cumadin (blood thinner) the he has ever been perscribed The only reason we even found out about this is because my mother in law was in for short term rehab from surgery as well and they had a shared room. When I asked what the hell happen and where were the so called pros. they actually tried telling me that it never happend.Long story short daily meds were not given, evaluation is a joke, and there so called attention to detail is a crock of BS and as a result My father in law is now injured and suffering from malnutrition and is in worse shape now than he was when he went in there. Excuse my language but this place is a SHITHOLE and should be closed so nobody else has to suffer from there so called care. Just so everyone knows emerald hills is being sued for this, nobody deserves to be treated that way.

I was outraged at the level of care and the blatant errors that this facilities displayed. My good friend was placed in the Rehab care only to receive high blood pressure - because of continued aggravation by the staff, and a life threatening kidney infection due to neglect and extreme disinterest in the needs of my friend. For example - she laid in bed crying for help, only to hear a nurse attending to her patient in the next bed tell my friend- you can cry out for help but I am busy fixing Ms. So & so's hair. Whatever is wrong can wait. The Administrator on down to the care nurses are not informed nor educated on correct procedures and policies of care - nor are they concern with patients rights. http://bit.ly/cMbr3

Response: Perhaps this reviewer's friend did have a poor experience. However, as a former student that worked clinicals at this site, my experience was much different. My interaction with residents found them to be content, happy, and well cared for. While the administrators may have been somewhat estranged from the residents, I found the nursing staff and ADON to be knowledgeable, empathetic, caring, and engaged. This was one of the few long-term facilities that (from my experience) I would endorse for a loved one.
