The staff does not handle conflict well. After an incident where my grandmother became agitated and grabbed a staff member's arm, the director of the assisted living asked us to have her evaluated for her mental state before she could continue to live at Waterford. On a Friday, we took her to the emergency room, where they performed all types of medical tests. At 11 PM after 7 hours in the emergency room, the hospital transferred her to a psychiatric facility, which was a horrible place. The intake doctor evaluated her as competent. The intake nurse called Waterford to say that she was sane. The night aide on duty at 12 pm told us that no one of authority could make a decision about her coming back to the assisted living until Monday. I called the director on her cell, and she did not respond. I have never been so livid in my life. My 90 year old grandmother went through 8 hours of unnecessary evaluation. We immediately got all her medication and moved her to another facility. I do not disagree with the Waterford’s right to make a judgment call, but the staff handled the situation extremely poorly. Also, when I packed up her belongings, I found the room in need of a good cleaning. When I went to get her medication, there were only two aides on duty, and there was not a manager on site. I would not place any relative in that facility.

Response: Thank you for you information. I had heard this before from a loved one that was not properly cared for at Waterford. This helps me decide to move on to another more caring facility for myself. Jack
