My father was in the memory care unit of this nursing home for 6 weeks while I looked for another facility. During this 6 week period, he lost about 10 lbs. due to a physician order for a mechanical soft diet not being followed by staff. He had 2 hearing aids, a watch, clothing, shoes and a TV remote control stolen. His belongings were not secured. He did not have his nails cut, a haircut (although I scheduled it and prepaid for it), or a real shower (wiping off with a wipe was considered sufficient). The memory care unit was small and cramped with no activities offered. The staff was usually one CNA on the unit with the nurses station outside the unit. Staff was always rude and unhelpful. They were not knowledgeable of their patients and even the director of nurses accused me of verbally attacking him when I called to try and advocate for better care of my father. My father developed 2 open wounds from lack of adequate hygiene and skin care. These wounds were never even treated. I can tell more of this 6 weeks horror story but hopefully you get the idea. I have successfully moved my dad to a much better home where he is healing and being treated with dignity and respect. I have reported Rockwall Nursing Home to the proper authorities. Please be aware of this loath-full place and do not subject your loved one to their inadequate and neglectful care.
